i ride every weekend, almost at least...

and i haven't even looked at mine since maybe july, when I did my top end. I do carry spares in the ski however.

just have a backup set handy, i carry very few tools, but two plugs and a plug wrench are 1st on the list.

3-4 trips or every few trips is way overkill.

That's the way it should be. My Speedster gets a new set after I de-winterize it. Those plugs are in all season, I pull them after each "day" of riding just to keep an eye on them. Then I winterize with them and repeat the process. I even run pre-mix and travel through lots of no wake zones and have never fouled a plug yet, so a ski with oil injection should be no issue. I do carry a box of 10 with me on the boat--just in case, when you got 4 in a boat a box of 10 can go quick if your having problems. That is the only thing I carry, plugs, socket and ratchet for them.

one thing i'll add, i probably loan out 2 pairs for every pair I use, we stumble across people at the ramp with issues all the time and plugs occasionally solve the problem.

cool, thanks for the info, when i was having probs with my ski, i was carrying starter fluid and extra plugs, but I always have a few metric sockets a screwdriver, 2 allen keys, and the 10/13 open wrench, after this, i'll start to carry extra plugs

here's a couple of pretty sick paint jobs .... i don't want the ski's but I want the artist's number, and i hope he's an alcoholic that works for beer !

Hey Spim,

No this guy is the alcoholic, but perhaps they work the flea market circuit together. Never the less he might give you a good deal for a six pack!

95 Seadoo XP 951 conversion - $3995 (Lehigh)

Date: 2012-11-08, 8:39AM EST
Reply to: see below

95 XP with 951 conversion ski is clean and ready to run with newly rebuilt engine from the bottom up it will pass most ski's on the water and still jump wakes and handle nice unlike the newer heavy ski's.. This ski isn't for everyone it has a ton of mods to make it a nice ski but nothing to reduce reliability. . . UMI steering, Hot-tack race-pak with EGT Sensors, ADA head runs on 93 pump gas, Rinaldi Reeds (Rotax Racing) with Reed Spacers, Miller intake, Novi gen-3 carburetors, dual df62 mikuni fuel pumps, Prok flame arrestors, Modified water box, MSD ignition, 97.5 White pipe, 155 pump with Solas prop, 85/90MM Nozzles Beach house sponson's, 13 Gal. T-Tank, Handle bar mount GPS so you know how fast you are going, Odyssey battery. . . I know every ski on Craigs list runs 60-70 MPH since that's what the dream-o meter tells them so they believe it even when the new super charged ski's will only 66 to 67 out of the box go figure? Anyway this ski will GPS 66 to 68 even in the high humidity weather we have and get there in a hurry un-like the 800 pound plus bran new ski's plus you don't need to take it to a dealer to figure out a problem. . . 3,995 without trailer and this is a firm price and I'm not looking for trades. 239-369-7361

ya it was posted about a month ago, when it hit the net.
he's finished with it, and starting a new project, kind of starting up an old one I guess,
93 XP with 951 and all the goodies that go with it.
also very scary....

I don't like riding either one, too scary for this rec rider.

ya ya, thats an old post...
I've ridden that ski, its scary to ride.

He said it will do 66-68mph.
Tim, you said my ski did 62, is 4-6 mph faster that much scarier?
A couple of the JetJunkies skis will do over 75...modded of course.....so what's the difference in the fun/scary factor?

lol. 62 is fine, hell i've gps'd 61 on my ski... (perfect conditions)

68 on an x4 where a small wake can toss you on your azz. and to boot it will take you from like 40 to 68 in a couple of seconds, if your not holding on tight, you will do a somersault off the back. your will take me from 40 to 62 but it will take twice as long to get there. This ski will holeshot like a mother, and it doesn't' care if your going 0, 5, 45, it will be going full speed before you can blink, he beats up 4 strokes like a bully on the playground.

my best comparison is donig 70 on a harley, vs doing 70 on a little dirt bike.

This is the kind of talk that makes me tingle inside. Taking an old Seadoo and making it out perform most newer this is just wonderful. I've got a 951 powered 96XP coming next week and will cart it right down to Chuck at the ride Jan.19th. I don't need to go near that far with mine anytime soon but I'd like him to ride it and point out any easy mph that the builder left on the table.

Can't get a darn pic of it to transfer over

most important thing to point out for any ski that travels over 65, is the hull itself.

I could run my brother in laws FXHO in the mid 60's, at least I think it was that fast and it was like riding a big cruiser, i could run it at top speed on all but the worst water conditions, the big deep v hull cut thru wake with no issues at all, so even at top speed, you never felt like you were in any danger at all from the chop, unless the waves were pretty bad you didn't even notice 1-2 ft chop... on the x4 at those speeds, you feel everything, since the hull is so sensitive to those water conditions.

Been dusting off that black and white 96XP when I've had the time this week. I'm still as impressed with the build as I was when I just saw a couple blurry pics on this site but know it much better now. Of coarse it is not "all good" as the ski went to it's second owner who was not so in tune with it. I'm gonna do it like a FS thread with the good news first.......and then the reality check.

The Good- It is an absolutely stunning ski. The paint is as good as factory in quality. If not for a couple little scrapes, there would be no way to know it used to be all yellow. It was obviously a well thought out build from the start. Everything is color coordinated and powder coated.

UMI stem(the more forward one) with purple anodized bars and switch holder
ATM carbon fiber hood
Hydro Turf seat cover and diamond plate foot pads
Minty Trackers sponsons
Jet Dynamics triple concave ride plate with shoe and #26 grate
Working trim (yeah, I listed that as an option)
APE (Arizona Performance engineering) Pipe
R&D Head and Pre Mix block off kit

The not so good (Honest Reality)- The Atm hood has a clear coating that is all cracked up and no room for a gauge. I got the trim working using two headlight relays (Justforfun's trim fix for under $20) but no gauge to read. I saw that they used no silicone between the shoe and the hull when reassembly after the paint job and could see a piece of the neoprene seal sticking out from between the pump and hull. There were no clamps left on the PTO boot. So I had to tear the area apart and put it together better.

The carbs were pretty clean but one needle and seat was leaky and they had rock hard clear fuel lines to discard. I was disappointed to see that they did not alter the jet sizes with the addition of the aftermarket pipe. The compression on the front is 170 and 160 in the rear. I've made some adjustments to try and stop the bleeding. I wired a hidden beeper back in it (they had the beeper wires going to the VTS). I found a partial quart of Penzoil universal 2-cycle oil :svengo:. The raves are not stuck but I see a lot of carbon on the exhaust outlet.

It seems to run perfect on the trailer but I will get a ride soon and obtain some rpm and mph #'s.
