Lol luckily I got her approval. The seller actually gave me $500, a sbt 951 in the box, and a new silver cowling for the 98xpl. All for a 4 wheeler that didn't run lol

You could make some nice money, or fix one to ride and one to sell and have both, money and a ski

Nam I need that sign. It's probably Tim though(the grumpy one). It's soooo cool and I've now got the garage for it. Noticed that one of the 96XP's had a Ficshetti's Rocketship Racing sticker like my HX.

Just to clarify "Grumpy Tim" is not a member on this forum but a guy who got short with Nam once and has been called out on another forum for selling parts with undisclosed issues.

El Toro is too nice. I'd hate to tell him about it he might insist on paying for it haha.

who is grumpy tim? i never caught his name, is it the guy on the lake who was selling that 99 xp hull?

Yeah Nam the guy that took offense of you making an offer on sight.

The race parts are from Troyboy on another forum. He gave me a look at the stuff and I've just bought that MSD system so far.

Yeah they were made by BRP for Seadoo racers. It's really cool but parts are rare and expensive so I'd be afraid to blow one up. Some of the ported cylinders would crack between ports because they did not leave enough metal in the sleeves(not sure if that was an issue with these particular engine sizes).

The engines were designed to outrun the triples of the day and would require high dollar race fuel imo. It's really cool don't get me wrong but those are just some reasons why I didn't pounce. I think Purples brp racer is 951 based where as these are 800 based.

yeah, mine is 951 based, and even tho those pics are really crappy i can tell that amount of materiel between my ports and those is night and day. those look almost paper thin where as mine are a good 3/16-1/4 inch thick. i guess being on the smaller 787 platform they had to be squeezed together more due to the difference in piston size. my friend dan's 951r with a 5mm stroke currently has 300 hours on it so i'm assuming the cracking issue was 787 specific.

like matt said they where designed by brp and where pretty much only made available to factory sponsored racers in the first couple of years (97-98 for the 951) , unless of coarse, you knew someone on a factory sponsored racing team and "convinced" them that a set needed to go missing. afterword, as with anything else, those sets that survived the rigorous racing life's made their way into private hands, tho you usually never see them on the open market very much. they're in the hands of collectors or people that still use them and never want to part with them. best thing about them is from the outside the motor looks stock, so you can really mess with some people or slip by a "tech'er" at a race unless her really knows his part numbers.

the main purpose of the the other sub exhaust ports was to allow for more air flow and scavenging thus leading to increased throttle response through-out the power band especially mid and top. as far as i know the 787 version was not very common, i'm guessing because on the cracking problem matt mentioned and i can see how it would be prevalent. i don't know about the 787 sets but a 951 set with a 3mm stroke was rated at 175hp, so a bump of about 45hp. not sure if that set would be comparable. also aftermarket carbs are pretty much a requirement as they have a higher fuel requirement than stock.

if they're anything like the 951 models built they also require a stroke on the crank of at least 3mm. as far as replacement 951r stuff, my buddy dan as worked with several companies over the years and has most everything you need to repair a 951 set short of them having a massive hole blown in the side.

The triple port 787 webs are thin, real thin and you can almost bet they will crack. I have seen several that cracked. Supposedly just those little ports are like an 8 to 10 hp increase. I've never confirmed this. Also, Skidoo ran triple port cylinders from the factory in their 670 sled engines. What has me curious is this, a stock 670 is a 77mm bore, supposedly you could "big bore" those all the way out to 82.5mm, taking that to a 740 iirc. So, is the 670 sleeve close to a enough 787 sleeve? L.A. sleeve can make the seadoo triple port sleeves, but there is a minimum purchase. I just wonder how close the 670 stuff is. You all know Seadoo didn't change stuff drastically and how all these engines morphed from the sleds.

Matt, that sign really isn't too far from me. I could pick it up for you and keep it until we figure out the logistics of getting it to you.

You live in Niceville? Sounds like that's where I should be!!! Tell you what, I will bring it over to you if I could give you $500 or so for the trouble of taking me on a tour of such a wonderfully named town.

Seriously, has anyone spoken with the guy? Matt, if you strike a deal with him, I will pick it up for you.

Tim I, II or III (not sure where I fall in the Tim rotation)

Thank you very much for that. He didn't bite on shipping it to me so I just hit him up with the new plan. Maybe I'll hear back from him this time.
