I've learned so far is the mid shaft leaks over time b/c of corrosion.
Engine can be moved forward to taken out to repair/replace to new piece and reseal.

The VX is a 800 XP basically. The VX"R" is a HO engine on base platform.
The FX are the step up but drier ride than VX. You have the 140 base or 160 HO
Then you have the SHO which is the SC model. Can't find maintenance on SC vs Seadoo at 200hrs.

The cruiser is basically the stadium seating for the passengers.

Other than salt water kills these more than a two stroke its all about maintenance and who PO was.

The first ski I got was pristine inside. The second one its a mess but thankfully nothing major.

Two 1996 Seadoo GTI w/Double Trailer $400 OBO (West Palm Beach, Lake Worth
)

3Ld3I33J35N15L45E5d4751fd584b590d1a34.jpg
Two 1996 Seadoo GTI's with double trailer for sale. These are project ski's that do not run and need work. Jet ski 1 has a seized motor (not sure how it became seized). Jet ski 2 has a motor that turns over fine but needs a new throttle assembly for one carb (this can be found on ebay for around $40). Needs new gauges. Both ski's have had many parts removed during initial restoration attempt including pumps, carbs, and steering assembly (I still have all of these removed parts). You will also be getting LOTS of spare parts including a brand new engine mounting bracket, 2 brand new choke cables, brand new steering cable, brand new engine mount bushings, new fuel lines, original pumps, original reverse gates, and more. Trailer (old Continental) needs a new axle but has new bearings and fairly new wheels. This is an EXCELLENT investment if you are looking for a huge lot of parts for your shop, or if you prefer a good restoration challenge. Title for both ski's in hand (I'll even have a bill-of-sale ready for you). The 96 GTI hull is fast and fun. If your interested or for more info call 561-662-0702 (if I don't answer please leave a message as I don't get reception where I work).

ocod !!! your killing me with these ski's from the other coast.
my only problem is that 4 strokes are WAY over my head so checking a ski out myself would be risky, i'd be walking in blind. although I guess you really just do a comp test and check for slippage on the SC ? hell I don't know :)

I'm really trying to find one on my coast over here where I can bring some1 qualified with me to check what needs to be checked, i'm trying to avoid have a nice $3,000 hull sitting in my garage while I save up for a new engine :(

Hey, we all half to get our feet wet some day.

The water test is more important than compression. Reason is have you seen all the stuff you have to take of before getting to the plugs??
If ski reaches rpm and no obvious mechanical/cosmetic issues then you should be good to go................
You need a keener eye and idea of what known issues that have been reported over and over again.

The ceramic washers and exhaust valves on the pre 05/06 SC ski had problems from what I remember.
No other big issues w/Seadoo. Yamaha I mentioned before.

I found one of the vx for the 3600 and other for 2800.

Water test is very telling though performing a compression test was no biggie on 05 rxt.
Unfortunately Seadoo had weak exhaust valves until late 06, Unless po has docs on rebuilt sc just plan to rebuild it.
Fyi my wife's 05RXT pulls 8000+ rpms @ 65mph (gps) 71mph dreamOmeter with 170+hours.
Oh take a flashlight and inspection mirror, all the plastic can hide ugly corrosion that will make maintenance a nightmare!

The seat need to be reupholstered but you can use it as is. Best ski in the market!!!! The battery is dead from sitting. I can start it here for you. Bring your mechanic. That was gone quick spim. I just checked it and it looks to have been sold.

i was tempted to call myself, but never liked that color scheme... but good value was worth pointing out.

toro and I went in on a $250 96 xp over the weekend that popped up locally,(too good of a deal to post here :) ) jury still out on engine, but its possible the top end is still good to go... gotta love the "its that one over there laying in the corner of the field" ski's.

There's your mistake - you've got to get her loaded first...

There's your mistake - you've got to get her loaded first...

short wife story,,, this goes back years now... i had just bought my yami 760, had it out a couple of times but we decided to do a couples day and took 4 ski's down to the beach, sea's were about 3 feet, pretty choppy for the Gulf, well of course the men do all the loading, launching, and take the ski's to the beach area next to the ramp. we're about to go and the ski's had been sitting in the sun for about 10minutes, vinyl was pretty warm so I splashed the seat real quick to cool it down... wife stops... and say's..." Hey ! dry that seat off, i'm not getting on a wet seat !" I try to explain to her that in 3 ft sea's, a wet bottom is the least of her worries... but i did it anyway...
40 minutes later we're cutting around the islands, the winds pick up and we're in 4 foot seas with 15mph winds in our face, running about 30mph and we're totally soaked from head to toe and she's on the back holding on for her life !

needless to say I just had say "good thing I dried the seat huh ? " (that didn't go well)

she hasn't been on the back with me in the Gulf since that day... river runs only... the fact that she quit joining me on rides was the primary reason I moved from a yami xl to a SD XP, figured if my passenger is staying home, might as well get a 1 seater !
