Do these winterizing steps make sense?

98 GTX limited ( 957 engine) I think?

I searched many threads on winterizing this ski, does this make sense?

1) pinch the small clear engine drain hose.
2)Disconnect engine water return hose.
3)Temporarily install a short piece of hose to engine
water outlet at cylinder head.
Insert a funnel into hose and pour antifreeze
in the engine until the colored solution appears
in the engine drain hose.
Remove temporary hose and reconnect engine
water return hose.
Remove hose pinchers.

Is that it? outside of jet pump and fuel stabilizer and all the rest.

Yes... but if you pinch off the hose... make sure you don't get anti freeze in the engine. I normally pour it in, and let it flow a little.

If the engine isn't running the water or antifreeze will back flow into the exhaust manifold and flood the engine. A running engine has pressure that keeps fluid from back flowing.

Should i pinch the small clear drain hose, or not pinch it?

with the engine not running!

Thanks Tony, should i not pinch the small clear drain tube?

How does it get inside the engine?

You don't need to "Fill" the engine with anti-freeze. You are just looking to get some into the jugs, head, and manifold to keep what ever water is int there from freezing. Actually, if the ski is going to be kept in a heated garage... anti-freeze is not needed.

Pinching it off is up to you. Like I said... I just let it flow a little.

It will not be kept in a heated garage.

So basically what your saying is pour AF into the cylinders at the water outlet, until i see the AF run out of the small clear engine drain hose?

Thats it? as far as protecting against freezing goes!

Also, the manual states to clamp the clear engine drain hose, but some people say not to?

here's how a buddy of mine winterized mine.

he has a bilge pump fixed to the bottom of a large tub. The tub is filled with RV antifreeze. The bilge pump has a hose on it that he connects to the ski where the garden hose goes. Start the ski and turn on the bilge. Let the ski run for a couple minutes and then fog the engine till it shuts down and quickly turn off the bilge pump. Same set up he uses to winterize my boat and his.
