Hey guys been workin on the ski a little bit today and found some more stuff... When I pulled off the nozzle to look closer at the impeller and it's a brand new skat trak 17/23.... Would that be a good impeller to switch over to my stock 96 Xp? Also if I wanted to swap the extended nozzle will I need to swap the steering cables?

No that steering cable needs to stay with the 95 as they had the 3" pump extension.

That's kind of what I was afraid of... Do I need to find a longer cable for that R&D nozzle to make it fit my 96?

If you want the extended pump you will need to pull the extension, drive shaft, steering cable, and Vts rods

Ya that's not very much fun... Was thinking of just swappin the 85/88 nozzle to my 96 but guess that's a no go without a different steering cable? Is it even worth swappin?

No, unbolt the steering cable, disconnect the trim rod from the trim ring, then remove the 4 bolts that hold the reduction nozzle to the pump. If you want to swap pumps you could just take the 4 nuts off and pull the pump. I would keep the 95 pump on the 95 and switch the impeller, if you want to keep the correct stuff on the 95.

The trim rod also had to stay on the 95 as does the drive shaft.

Thank you, definitely leaving the pump on the 95... Is that R&D nozzle a nice upgrade?I was thinking of switching the impeller to my 96 as well but I don't know anything about the 17/23

Going to meet up with him again tomorrow. It's alittle over priced but we are getting there. If it was all original with an X motor I'd pay asking price, but it's not it has an SBT 787

Ah I hear ya on that one!! Well hopefully you can get him to come down to a reasonable price.... If not, this guy may be for sale some time soon! Only after she's cleaned up and runnin though

A better impeller for you going stock(in that brand, of that style) would be a 17/22. That one is pitched taller because the head pipe and carbs(the extra displacement didn't hurt) gave it the umph to pull it.

Thanks Matt, that was what I was wondering, I'll just leave it in the 95 then... Not worth pulling two pumps lol

If you want to do a little check your own, pull the tank and look for the clock dial molding dates. There will be a year that reads 199 then the circle with the arrow pointing to the last digit just to the right of it. I think it's right to the right of the capacity of the tank that is molded into the tank. If that last digit is a 5 or 6 you're more than likely due for a tank. Damn, again with the date codes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Your's should be a 5
