I have 96 XP...was gonna change the pump oil..was wondering about the anti rattle kit...i have read its not worth it...but was wondering if i just used the longer 97 cone..would it improve the pump efficiency??..thanks Ken

While the cones will interchange the difference in oil capacity would be miniscule. The anti-rattle is a total waste of money.

It does quiet them down a little but the cone is exactly the same size as the non rattle ones. Some of the older skis had small cones and the old ones had small brass cones.

Wetwolf is the only one that made a self adjusting size cone for seadoos. Im no hydrodynamic expert or anything but he sold a bunch of those.

I think I just made a word up. LOL

As above... waste of $$$$. Most of the time, they don't eliminate the rattle... just reduce it. AND... if you loose oil for some reason... the pusher will melt, and destroy the pump internals.

Both of my skis are now running!!! So I am getting ready for a trip to the water for the first time with them in a couple of days. I replaced the pump oil in both. Started them on the trailer and the GSX is pretty quiet. Just motor sound. The GTX has a rattle sound somewhere in the back. Not real bad, not grinding, kind of ringing/clanging. Is this the rattle that this thread is talking about? If so, I wont worry about it. If not, then what do I look at? BTW, this is with the seat on so it seems external, not under the seat. The wear ring looks good. I am pretty sure the sound was there before I changed the oil so I do not think I caused it.

Normal sound. Once in the water the load from the impeller makes it go away.
