Jet Pump Bearings Help

Whenever I press the new bearing on the pump nose cone side of the jet pump for my 96 XP, the jet pump shaft refuses to go in. The bearings go over the shaft fine when both are out of the jet pump, but after pressing the bearings in, I can no longer get the shaft to go into the bearings, even after taking the bearings out. I have gone through three bearings trying to do this, and now all three are useless. Does anyone have a solution to doing this, or any tips to not make it do this? Additionally, the other side of the jet pump does not have this problem, and the bearing goes in fine and the shaft goes through it with no problems.

Did you set them per the service manual?
There is a specific depth they have to be set and a special tool seadoo sells also.
I have done it with a press and calipers with no issues.

Yes, and I use the OEM tool that is pictured in the service manual. It is only occurring on the venturi side, but the impeller side is perfectly fine. Please correct me if I am wrong, but the two bearings used are the exact same, correct?

Edit: I apologize for wasting your time, it appears that where I am supposed to press the bearing into is flared inwards, causing the bearing I press into the venturi side to become smaller, and thus unusable. I will have to press it in through the impeller side to get around this issue, unless this is a bad idea for reasons that are beyond me?
