99 gtx limited 951 w/ very low hours

I have a great 951 carb engine in a beautiful 99 gtx ltd with less than 70 hours....engine has less than 20 houts. 6700 rpm at 55 mph. Should I fix this ski up or find a xp hull w blown engine and swap? I juzt want to have fun! Suggestions? ??? I'm open for upgrafes, engine and hull swaps, or anything sensible. .. lets hear your thoughts! !!

My BF has the same exact ski with real low hours . I think he wants to swap into another hull bcuz the motor is good but the ski is a tank a boat anchor. Not a sporty ski to ride. Btw his ski will do over 60mph all day long so 55mph something is wrong.

Have you checked the wear ring on the pump? My 2000 carbed GTX would only do 45 and the wear ring was destroyed. I rebuilt the pump and replaced the ring and now I'm pushing past 60 on a 300 hour engine

Rebuilt pump. I do not know what to do about the rpms and mph. Im frustrated about it. Lou I was wanting to swap into an xp hull or something more fun to ride. Like foot said, this thing is a tank. I do not know where to start to fix the rpms and mph. Someone said clean R.A.V.E.s and so forth. I havent had time to attempt this. The hours indicator only show @70 hours. The guy I bought it from put a new engine in it. I do not know if the engine has 70 hours or less but most deff no more than 70.

The GTX is a very stable ski, if you want to slide and do 360s then buy a smaller ski with a 787 or a 951.
a 96 XP with a 787 is one of the most sought after skis for fun.

I have a GTX w/ 787 and I can still do 360s. I wouldn't mangle one good ski to make another. My 2 cents.

Don't remove a mostly working engine. Sell it and get a XP. Of course you'll never ride 2 up on it though.

just based on this post, your only option is selling the gtx and buying an xp... and IMO , buy it stock or nearly stock and ride it first before you think about mods, if you don't have time or knowledge/experience to look into something like a rave then you definitely don't have time to drop a 951 into an x4, at all. ,,, sell the boring ski and buy a more fun one, and drop all thoughts about getting fancy and doing a conversion.

I never said anything about swapping the motor into and XP hull. You said you had a beautiful hull and an engine with only 20 hours, I was asking why you wanted to make a swap.
