Was wondering whats available for a 97 GS peformance upgrades? It's got the 720 motor & I see lots of people saying to just upgrade to the 800, but thats not gonna happen. Is there anything from other models that will fit with relative ease/ slight modification. Just looking mostly for exhaust and intake bolt ons. Are the upgraded intake grates that are on the market offer good performance for the price? Don't wanna get too crazy.

I heard the Factory pipe make a good amount of power on the 720's

I'm looking into some cheap minor mods for mine and from what I've read so far.

This is what I'm doing;

1.Flame Arrestor (rejet)
2.Mill Head (rejet)
3.AAT wetwolf (lots of tuning required)
4. 85mm nozzel (not sure if that would work for yours)

If I was you, mill the head, flame arrestors, and a pipe, then get a impeller to match.

I talked with a rep from factory pipe last year about putting one for my 98 GS and they said that the compartment is two small for the pipe. I don't know if this is true, but I dont want to pay the money to find out.

I had a 98gts, and installed a r/d head, westcoast arrestor, rossier pipe, and cant remember the pitch impellor, but..ski worked/performed awesome...i'd say it tapped about low/mid 50's

There is no reason why it will not fit. Although, do not install it unless you replace the single 40mm carb with a set of dual carbs (stock or aftermarket). The stock single carb will not flow enough fuel through the main jet to feed the engine. If you use duals from an HX or 95 XP, I would install a second fuel pump on the PTO carb and drill a hole in the cases for a second pulse fitting.
