Hello. I have a 97 Sportster and it just doesnt have enough power for me. Its a single engine (717 720). I rebuilt it and it just seems weak. Good compresstion. Are the single engine jet boats turds? Are there any performance parts out there? I would really like this thing faster. Especially getting out of the hole and onto plane. Thanks guys!

Less of selling it and getting a twin, then not really.
The most you can do is swap impeller to get a little better hole shot.

The engine is already peaking its max performance at the 7000 rpms. You don't want to shorten its life buy bolting add on's and making it more difficult to tune and get it running right.

BTW is the compression at 150??

Yeah, the compression is 150 both cyl. So the single engine boats are just not that powerful off the line? When its in plane it moves at 35.7 mph (gps). Im pretty happy with that.

Power to weight ratio.

Yes that is a lot of fiberglass to push but I would not rule out cavitation. Those boats have a plastic drive shaft cover that needs to be removed. When was the last wear ring, impeller inspection?
