'95 XP 800 Limited and '94 XP 4 sale? good deal

I saw a '95 XP Limited 800 and a '94 XP for sale on a double trailer. The guy says both run very well. He wants $2000 for both or $1500 for the '95. Is this a good deal? I know there were only 500 of the '95 XP 800 Limiteds made. I know it has a true 787 motor, an extended pump, hump seat, and a single guage hood for pros. What are the cons? What parts are not compatible with my '96 XP? Does the '95 Limited and the '96 XP use the same MPEM? Does this ski hold a higher resale value b/c of its rarity compared to the '96?

I would say that there really aren't too many cons to a 95 xp. It is pretty much a tried and true ski, and it holds its value very well, plus it looks great already.
 
The mpem is the same. On the 95 xp the driveshaft is longer and has a carrier seal as where the 96 has the carbon ring. The steering cable is longer on the 95, the pump mount studs are longer on the 95, the crank and counterbalancer cog gears on the 95 are on a different pitch.
 
I've got an 95XP800 and I've found absolutely no problems with reliability or parts, the only extra maintenance is the bearing carrier. And that's not a bad price, if the ski is in good condition, spring is around the corner. I don't think I would bother with the 94XP unless you are just looking for an extra ski.

If you just buy the 95 does the trailer come with it? If not then it would be worth buying the 94 also.

Ok, I appreciate the detailed info. I know this may be off the subject, but what parts are interchangeable btw/ my '96 XP and '97 SPX? I know they have different MPEMS and waterboxes, but not sure about what parts are interchangeable.
 
I would buy them both and sell the 94 xp if you have a single trailer to put it on. You could probably pull $1000 out of one easy in the spring on CL. Heck I got $1300 out of my 93 xp. Figure in the double trailer also. I know around here you can't touch one for under $500 that doesn't need work.
 
I know he's asking $1500 for the 95, but for it to be worth $1500 it better have the original engine in it and be running. To me it's devalued without the factory engine. The tag on the case by the PTO should read 787X. If the engine dies let me know before you do a core swap.
 
Just to set the record straight (LOL ok not really...) but Bill O has said that they sold around 500 with the X motor. Not ALL 95s came with an X motor. Thats why there seems to be so many 95s out there..b/c there are.
 
Should you decide you're not interested in the skis, let me know. I'm not that far from southern VA.

I'd love to get the inside track from Sea-Doo directly on the true production numbers on the X engines and the non X, I guess. Anywho, some day I'll have one.
 
So to feel yall in on the update. Guy said he had someone from VA beach that was going to come pickup the skis on Wednesday, but first guy that shows up with the $ first gets it. I called his bluff, I have heard that line before. I asked him if the price was negotiable and he said no. I told him if the guy from VA beach didn't show up, and if you are willing to negotiate then give me a call. Well I texted him back today and he said he still wants $2,000 for everything or $1,000 for the '95 XP 800 Limited. He said that this offer is open for tomorrow only, and goes back to $1500 on Thursday. I am considering it now. He don't even know if it has the original motor in it or not. All he knew was that it ran great last September. He said its his sons ski, and he was the one that knew all the specifics on it.
 
Since he came down i would at least check it out, if it is original and you already have a trailer that's a great price
 
So I went to look at the '95 Limited today and it wouldn't crank. It would turn over on the jumper box, but wouldn't get much spark. One cylinder had a real faint spark and the other looked to have none at all. I don't know if it could be something simple like it not getting enough volts for it to crank or what. I switched the spark plugs and the same cylinder had a faint spark while the other still had nothing at all. The first cylinder had almost 160 psi and the rear had 150 psi. I could tell it had been rebuilt b/c I could see the green gasket overlapping the top of the cylinder jug and knew that wasn't factory. And she said it was rebuilt in the middle of last summer. I told the lady I couldn't give her the $1,000 she was asking, and she said she was going to have it fixed by a mechanic and give me a call when it was running. I told her I could give her $500 for it in its current condition or she could go through the hassle of getting it fixed and pay the mechanic and all. She thought about it for a minute and took my offer. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot the problem, and what should I do first?
The engine plate says 787 and it also says 781,6. So I don't think it is a true 787. I did notice the different driveshaft with the carrier seal thing though as well as the extended pump.
 
Yeah, it needs good voltage to get spark. The 781.6 is a 787, my 96 says the same thing. You also shouldn't jump the ski, you risk frying the MPEM.

crazy good deal now wheres the pix?? Prob just the battery, but we can get deeper once you dig in a little.
 
If that motor was truely just rebuilt last year than that was a cool g right there. Great deal. A new $80 battery and you may have a awesome machine. How was the condition of eveything? Mainly the seat and hood. :agree: pics please

I just bought a '96 XP off of craigslist for $500 about a month ago. He said all it needed was the carbs rebuilt. But I can't get it to turn over. Both of these skis have grey fuel lines. So how many feet of fuel lines do I need to do both of these skis?

I bought a 25' spool to do my XP and had a little left over.
