95 GTS Storage cover latch

Hello,

I have a 95 GTS and the mounting bolts for the storage cover latch have pulled threw there mounting holes.
Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem, if so, how did you go about it.
There is not much room to get a nut on the back side and the one hole has become oblong and will require a washer or something to reinforce so it doesn't happen again. Also I see that the cover is 2 pieces ( top an bottom ) can they be taken apart with heat and resealed ? If none of this will work, I was thinking of mounting external latches.

There are these things called "riv-nuts" Kind of a threaded insert that works like a pop-rivet. Maybe those would work? (google riv nut)
