I'm bored too so I took a look at this today,
Needs a front motor mount, cylinders are full of oil, guessing crank seals, but it does run and does stop smoking after its been running for a bit.
Seems like its intact and wouldn't take very much. Didn't see the tag so I'm not sure if its a 650x or not.
He'll take $750 with the trailer and has all papers. What do you guys think?

I've been looking for a 96+ xp 800 since the start of the summer and so far this is the only thing that came up that was worth any interest.
Machines are pretty scarce and expensive around here :P

Nice shape, but if you are looking for the power if the 787, you will be disappointed. My personal opinion is, I would wait it out and at least get something with a 720,

I would buy it!
I owned a pair of 94 spx's. Great skis nimble and fun. Not to fast and not to slow, just right for the ski. The engines are 657's not 657x. I miss those skis and sometimes I really wish I had them back.
Everyone talks about the 787 motor and how great it is, but the 657/717 is very close to being bullet proof. Extremely reliable engines.
JMHO.

I tend to agree, I owned a 95XP, really great balanced, reliable ski, I still own a 96GTI with a 720 and yes they are practically bullet proof. There's only 5HP difference between the 657 and the 720, 80HP vs 85HP. One caveat the 94XP is not an X4 hull.

For that kind of money, I would buy it. It looks good and runs. What more do you want? Sure, it smokes some but, that's an obvious oil injection issue. Big deal. Around here, guys still want nothing less for a machine like that. They are a good balanced machine. My '94 XP 657 will keep up to my buddies '97 GSI 717 on flat water. If it makes things any better, show up with $700 cash :)

Thanks for the opinions guys, Going to make an offer and see what he says. lol now I have to find a place to put it :P

That might be a 95 Spx. I believe the only difference is the 95 has sponsons and the 94 doesn't. My uncle had a 95, it's a great ski and very fun to ride

I thought the 650 had 70 hp, at least the 95 gtx I had did (supposedly) does the 650x have the 80hp?

657 is an 80hp engine. 5hp less than the 717. I road a 95 and 96 Spx back to back. I could feel only a slight slight difference in power

so many variations ::willy_nilly: 95 only had 657x's, sp's spi's with 587 had 55 and 60 hp :facepalm:

Oh I see. Yes he is. The 657x is 80 hp, not the 657

But his 95 Gtx should have a 657x at 80hp

Dang, my gtx sure didn't feel like 80. I had a 96 gti that felt quite a bit spunkier, I do love that 717 for the sound, reliability, and decent power. That link is a good reference, very interesting.
