I was curious if anyone out there could give me some feedback on Stainless steel wear rings. I have an 07 RXT stock with 80hrs and i am already onto my second OEM wear ring which needs replacement,(I ride the thing to its limits). I am now replacing with Solas impeller 13/18 and Stainless wear ring. These are Riva`s recommendations but my ski shop tends to shy away from the SS wear ring. Any thoughts or feedback would be great!

The idea of a plastic wear ring is it is replaceable. SS is a bad idea as you will be replacing impellers instead. You decide which is cheaper.

Wearing ring....

If you are replacing the OEM wearing ring that often, then you are riding to close to the beach.

As Karl said, don't go with the stainless steel. The reason the wearing ring is a hard rubber, coated over a teflon center is because it has the properties of bouncing particles off of it.

If you replace with stainless steel, those sand particles will wear at the metal 2 or 3 times faster than the rubber one.

Keep a minimum of 3 feet clearance of the impeller to the bottom. This way, you won't be replacing impellers so often. Oh yeah, that's what BRP recommends too...

Its not so much the beach or sand that i get too close too as i am fairly cautious of that, it is more sticks and debri floating in the river after heavy rains etc. I have heard good things for, and comments against the SS wear ring and notice that nearly all the race guys run them so i was just curious as to what people of this forum thought. I appreciate your comments and i have decided to go ahead fitting them this week. I will let you know how it goes down the track(river) at a later date....thanks guys!

i think there was another thread on here about this and a member has an SS ring and said he wishes he didnt. You ride alot how would you like replaceing your impeller as much as your replacing your plastic ring????? ALSO you wont have any protection for the pump drive shaft and that nice $5000 motor you got. Also changing a plastic wear ring is about the price of an oil change. what are they us dollars $40??? Just my 2 cents
