That burn orange does look sharp. Think I'm going to go with gray bilge paint on inside of ski. Shiny ceramic coat the exhaust, but might go with flat black on water box not really sure yet.

mine are just engine enamel... as is the bronze/orange one, he just used products from autozone, a couple coats of paint, and a coat of clear or maybe two.

one thing i'll say about the bronze, is that it shows the dirt very clearly, doesn't hide anything.... after I saw his engine I wanted him to paint mine metallic red, but after a month he told me how often he had to clean the engine to get rid of the little dirt spots and I decided that flat black on the engine and a red head/waterbox was the way to go... I don't enjoy wiping down my engine after every ride so black is my color of choice.

if you go with grey, you could always paint the waterbox grey.. like this. My buddy John did this and after he did his, I talked him into doing mine with the flames... (well the flames were his idea)

I always wanted to paint the inside of the hull, but honestly, the stock inside cleans up so well, and i'm assuming paint wouldn't be nearly as easy to clean, so i'm sticking with stock for the inside of the hull unless I decided to have a ski that is more for show than it is practical. I remember a thread on pwc about the "blasterdoo" that had the inside of the hull done up really nice with that garage floor epoxy stuff, it looked really nice, but not sure if it cleans up as easily.

now, back to practical matters,, do you have another sister I can propose to ?

I did the inside of my 95 xp in white bilge paint and it works really nice. It's glossy to it cleans up really easy. And the bilge paint, from what I read, is made for the engine bay of a boat to protect the fiberglass from soaking up and oil/fuel in the event of a spill.

What are the stops from on the engine? The salt water?

ya, i think that's the key, whatever you use, it should be oil/fuel resistant, and rinse off easily.

No progress on this project. Since we got 9 inches of snow in 1 day a couple days after we took it out of the warehouse and into the yard its at. It has a cover on it but im sure it still got nasty. This week though it is suppose to be in the mid 40s so after all the snow melts I will take it back to the warehouse, give her a bath and get back at it.

This is my favorite thread on this forum. It gives me hope that if I can get my 95 xp seaworthy, I can make it look cool too. Its going to be tough with all the purple bumpers and foot wells but that will be first to go if all goes well.

I have the same 3 gauge hood that was on your XP. Where did you get that single gauge hood?
Do you think it the paint would crack if i attempted painting the hood black?

Hit Minnetonka up for a single gauge hood. I'm sure he has some laying around and if not can point you in the direction. I've rattle canned a few hoods with Krylon Fusion and it has held up.

Yup the fusion paint has some stretchy stuff in it to deal with flexible plastics.

I havent had a single gauge hood in a while, but I think my bro has one left.

hahah. i am on your thread a lot also to show my friends who are helping me. I like how the single gauge looks, the black trim, footwells, basically everything. bums me out that my 95 xp has purple trim. I'm just waiting to have the extra cash to buy the extras. Maybe another seadoo...

I painted my 95 xp purple trim. Turned out nice. I have the black trim for it, just can't seem to find time in the summer to put it on. Almost always have something going on in the summer.

Progress has slowed down. I've been working weird hours (8:30 am to 7 pm) and can't seem to get up to powder coated to see if they can do what I want.

Once I get that squared away, jugs will be going to full bore to get done. Talked to the guys at full bore and thy would like to see the pc done first to be sure we don't distort the cylinders at all.

And it's like 20 degrees here so it's not like I can ride right now. Lol.

Today. I saw the carbs for this sitting in a box and decided it was a good time to put all the new hardware in it. As all of you who have worked on these know the phillips head screws suck. I was looking over racers thread and saw he replaced some internal screws that always strip, and thought that was brilliant. So I went ahead and ordered those and while I was there I thought about just replacing all the hardware. I was pm'ing back and forth with racer and he had all hardware for the carbs measured up for me in like 2 minutes. So We ordered all the hardware. No more phillips for me for a while.

Are the bags the new screws/bolts that you ordered?

We bought these a while ago. They come in packs of 50 and 100. We are buying in bulk because we go through alot of carbs.

I did not order the carb mounting bolts, those are alot more and only 5 come in a bag

You need for the PUMP M5 X 35, You can get 316 or 18-8. The 316 is more corrosion resistant, that being said I always use 18-8 and have NEVER had a problem--EVER and I ride in salt water, so you'll be way fine. I wouldn't waste the money on the 316, we only use it when it's called for by a customer.

I used M4 X 12, they are actually 14mm long so they could be a custom screw. By using the 12mm long your losing like 2 threads, no biggie.

Ok .... Ok..., how much for you to make me a small Baggie so I can do my carbs with stainless screws. I don't need a bag of fifty... Just to do one set of carbs.

I will make the kits for lets say $16 shipped. It will come with all exterior screws for the carbs to replace the phillips head screws and the screws for the carburater valve plate.



We have 10 seadoos right now that we will be putting these on plus from now on every seadoo we restore will be getting these installed.

If you want the bolts to mount the carbs to the intake add $10
Those bolts are expensive and only come in packs of five and dual carbs need 4


Single carb kits will be $11 shipped and $5 extra for the carb mounting bolts

If there is enough interest in these I will make a seperate thread for these kits.
