hey guys, new to this forum

anyways problem at hand right now, is my 90 seadoo 580 gt, is not charging hasnt been for 8 years now, has been stored for a couple of them, and my oncle was the last to take it out on the water and seem he sunk it and didnt clean it right after , this was 2 years ago, and you guessed it, stator flywheel, electrical etc.... all corroded!:toetap05:

so i got everything cleaned, re-assembled and now i have no sprak too????

so where do i go from here?

having the following tested tomorrow

coil
rectifier
spark amplifer
stator

have you guys run into these problem in the past, and have any advice for me??

thanks
kevin

on the mpem/ecu, theres a blk/red wire that goes to the coil. That same wire, also branches off to a butt connector. Disconnect that connector, and hit start button. If it fires up, you'll need to pull the choke to kill ski, since you bypassed all workings. If it does fire up, you'll need a new mpem/ecu.

ok thanks, well it wont even fire right now the rectifier and coil are dead, my skidoo coil is the same but i need to find a new recitifer, then ill do that test

anything else that i should do?

ok just did another little test,

from the stator, the black/white wire on the multimeter has 20-28 ACV jumps back and forth

from the stator the 3wire connector none of the wire are reading anything, ACV

so if this is it, that means the part of the stator that has 3 heads is dead and dosent send the juice to the ingnition modual/spark amplifier

and the chargin section is fine?

correct or way off and my test werent good?

seadooya i was just re-reading your post and my ski doesnt have a mpem or ecu

its the yellow 580 and theres only a rev-limiter no other computer

unlease its somewhere other then in the brain-box

ok got the stator back off and fixed again, now we got power all the way to the coil but no futhur, my sled coil is to big (for an 800) anyways making progress

need new rectifier and coil then we'll see from there i guess

Amplifier?...

About a year ago, there was a member who had this same motor from the early 90's. The motor that uses the spark amplifier. It was actually the first time I worked with this part.

His problems were similar to yours, as far as no spark from the coil.

It does seem you've got your problems all worked out with the exception of fire to your plugs.

I haven't looked through the manual yet. I'm at work. But I think there may be a test you can use to help detect if it's the amplifier or coil.....

Check all your buttons for continuity(? I can't spell) Any way I have a 90SP and spent about three weeks trying to figure out my spark issue. I replaced every part and tne figured out it was the kill switch button on the handle bars. I was thinking the worst when it was such an easy fix. So make sure you check your Lanyard button and the kill button. That is what I have to offer. And Good luck I know how frustrating a spark issue is believe me.

well did another test just now, and at the 3 wire connecter from the stator i have 12 to 13 DCA (direct current amps) and after the spark amplifier i have 6-7?

fishy to me almost telling me that the spark amplifier is dead also??

and as for the stop switch im not sure, have to test that when i get it running

jack pot ahwile go, seem my dad and oncle when trying to fix it back in 04-05 bought a new amplifier box (now dead) i found the old one in the garage which was still good come to find out, so now i got everything from the stator all the way up to the coil going, just need the recitifier and coil and new thether swicth tested them as per the book and found it was no good

making progress

ok well parts are on the way ( new coil and rectifier 50$ ea brand new, ntb)
but now i know the thether is no good so need a new one, a used one would be fine, anybody?

also how do you test the engien speed limiter?
and how do you time these things? with all the corrosion i had, i had to sandblast the housing and i lost all the marks on it, i have a timing light but it for cars ir it the same?

i still have the mark on the flywheel and notch on the housing

still no spark

ok well, i got the coil and rectifier in everything seem a go but still no spark only thing left is the engien speed limiter, in the manual its says that the engien speed limiter could cause this problem, should i try that next?

back to the same place

ok, well new rectifier, coil, rev-limiter

all switches work, kill, thether, stater switches all 100%

still no spark, now i want to test the stator anyone got the numbers for me??

also i have a spare flywheel off a 94 gts but thats the white engien, is it the same flywheel as my yellow motor?

What up man its Nick...

that sux that rev limiter didnt do it for ya...and the yellow motor has a different flywheel and stator then all the other models.

where you able to use those pistons?

Did you try unhooking the rev limiter blk/red wire and crank it?

Did you cut a 1/4" off the plug wires and reconnect the caps?
