Hey Guys, this is my first post on here. I just picked up two 2-Stroke PWC's. A 1996 GTX, and 1997 GTI.
The 1996 GTX Starts and runs seemingly well out of water. The only thing I have changed on it was the spark plugs, as the old ones looked pretty nasty. I want to do a good once-over of the engine and all components before I put i in the water to make sure it's in good shape. This is the first time I have ever worked on a PWC, but I am mechanically inclined, and good with directions. Where would you guys recommend to start with on this? I'm not wanting to sink a ton of money into it, but I don't even know if the oil pump works, or if the previous owner was pre-mixing.
The 1997 GTI was a bit more of a gamble. It has no keys, but does show power through the red light on the instrument panel. I have not even been able to see if it has compression, as the starter appears to be somewhat buried? I contacted local dealers around me, and nobody services anything older than 10 years. Is there any way I can maybe remove the MPEM and ship it out to have new keys programmed? Does anybody have a contact on here that does that? I will most likely disassemble this one pretty far to see its condition, but I'd like to at least see if it has compression before I go wasting a bunch of time on it. Does anyone know how to get it to crank without keys?
Any help is appreciated, I'm logged onto this on my work PC and haven't had the time to start on the PWC's at home yet, but I will get logged into my personal PC as well later tonight.
Pictures attatched of the two skis (Haven't taken many since they got home)

Thank you!
