LEDs on Speedster

Speedster front led holder.JPG

Speedster rear holders.JPG

Sea doo under dash.JPGwell since I got the LEDs on the stern i decided to place them in the cupholders and under dash as well. I don't know if I'll be putting any more in though. It is lit up pretty well now.

when you get a chance can we get a daylight pic of a close up shot with lights off? the lights on the stern that is.....

Gotta say, that is a rela nice looking setup. Where did you purchase the remote switch and epoxy? How much $$$ did you actually spend in all?

Well Damn
I cant believe so many people are considering putting in lights at the water line through the hull of the boat that they run through waves for no better reason than , WOW they look kewl ? Yah they do but even with plenty of money I wouldnt consider it
Above the seam --Yes , at or below the water line , Never
:willy_nilly:

@SP - Completely agree with you unless it was install at the factory/by the mfg.

I wouldn't try to epoxy a straw to the bottom of my coffee cup and hope it doesn't leak cuz it's easier to drink that way!

I do like the cup holder lights though and possibly something near the floor as well. IF I were to do anything on the outside it would definitely be above the H2O line. Point well taken.

Will let everyone know

I am ordering two "fog" LED's and 4 "spot" LED's in blue from Oznium.com and installing them under the water line. I will take pics throughout the entire install inside and out for all to see and create a new thread. The LED's on there web site do not require any type of external control box and draw very low amounts of power to run. Remote would be nice but I am skipping that step for these. Got about a 3 week wait on the two "flood" LED's so it will be June b4 the project is completed. Can anyone tell me what type of screws they used to tap these lights on the boat? I am also pre-fabbing rubber gaskets out of 1/8 inch rubber. Bought the sheet for $5.00 from a supply company next door to my office. Sheet comes 5'x10' so I got plenty of extra for anyone who tries this after I succeed (hopefully).

I have ordered some LED lights for inside my challenger and will post the pics when I install them. Should be pretty cool. Like the cup-holder idea but may wait on that and the below water lights till the fall.

I would suggest that before another Knee-Jerk comment, remember: Google is your friend.

From the picture I googled OceanLED and sure enough they exist, and the pictures from that site all look that that posted pic OceanLED.com and they have video as well.

Another quick search and they are NOT cheap! each LED assembly could be at least $1000!! :ack: add wiring, the 'power' to run them, et al....

I like them, but I see NO way my speedster could generate (nor sustain) the power they require.

LED lights take almost to nothing to power.. Thats why LED is the Best light solution ,, Even on TVs now..

Yeah I just ordered some for my 96 speedster and would like to know what kind of seals, screws and sealant people are using? I purchased green for the back and orange for the interior. Appriciate any feedback, except negative criticism, it seems this post kind of took off after tresvatos1 installed his successfully. Nice work tres they look incredibe.

And to address the nah sayers on this post if people want to put lights on their boat who cares. Let them do it, even if they think it is just "KEWL". Not your boat, last time I checked I think this is still the United States.

They don't leak

Well I 've had the boat out several times now and THE LIGHTS LOOK AWESOME AND THEY >>>>> DO NOT LEAK<<<<<<, so I am satisfied...

tresvatos1

so you ordered your lights from oznium or ocean led?

I want to order mine ASAP.. it seems the prices at oznium are alot more to my budget

Ok so Im going LED crazy.. I ordered 8 Spot LEDs and 10 Superflux for the deck. I do have a Question. each light requires 3 holes 2 screws and 1 forthe cable.. I am assuming the the hole for the cable only needs to be so small and then seal it with what?

The forum wouldn't let me upload all of them, hope you enjoyed the pictures. I have only done the exterior persay, I am going to the interior soon. Just those two light with switch and wiring took longer than expected. If any one has question about my setup I would be more than happy to anwser them. Basically I ordered the lights from Oznium.com. The company doesn't lie they are incredibly bright. I used 3mm screws very small. and built a "project box" for the wiring which I am going to use for a stereo. I went with orange on the back for two reasons, you have to have green as a light in the front of the boat and also because I don't care about rules with the navigation lights, I just thought the orange looked great under the deck. almost like the a volcano erupting. Wiring was a breeze it is just a standard 12v DC system so essentially plug and play red to red black to black no worries.

:hurray:

How did you install the Light. did you install the Flat part against the Trasom(on the outside) or did you cut 1 large hole and fit the Light assemply through the hole leaving the Flat part with the cables on the inside of the transom?

@Tres - Yeah, you job came out great! Glad you shared your experience.
Did you use the smaller LED for the cupholders?

@ SeadooBOB - Sweet install too. Which "lights" did you go with as Oz lists 2 different "high intensity" lights, one a flood light, one a spot light. What is on the back or your whip (the orange lights)?

After my stereo install, hydro turf install and a few other odds and ends, lighting is my next task for sure! Thanks for sharing guys. Maybe a sticky with a wrtite up LED's, type used, wirirng needs, mounting needs, sealant needs etc. would be a good idea as it looks as if a lot of people have a lot of good info and input to add.

SeadooBob could you post the mounting location of the LED's..?

Thanks :)

I mounted the lights ( Ozium.com lights used --> http://www.oznium.com/marine-led-light ) basically next to the blower hole sure made wiring easy and as goes for what I used. 3mm screws from Ace hardware, the only place I could find 3mm screws.I bought the wiring from radio shack along with a project box. Though I am sure an auto parts store or basically any where has cheaper wiring than radio shack, depending on what you are wiring, you can use 18 gauge but if you plan to wire a stereo as well to the system I suggest a different gauge. I strongly reccomend an inline fuse, if you are wiring the switch and the wires accidently touch with the power on for testing it might screw something up. I blew a 5 amp fuse while wiring my boat. I was really happy I wired in a fuse. I need to silicon the bottom of the screws, but after that I am going to wire in more lights once you get the first set wired up then the rest are simple. I am going to install green lights for the interior

Greg,
I installed my 4 blue lights before memorial weekend. I used the 3m 5200 quickset epoxy and was very easy. I had no problems with 3 days at the lake with no water leaks. I finially got to see the lights in the water late Monday night. Look really good, and everyone at the lake was really looking at the boat. Yes!!! I was showing off a little bit with the lights and the stereo cranked.:patriot:
