trying to order new piston rings my options are 82.0 or 82.5 how do i measure

thanx for the advice on pulling the carbs and not the motor i want to order the piston rings but i am not sure how to determine if i need the 82.0 or the 82.5 offerd i measured the ring relaxed and it is 82.5 then compressed the ring and it measured 82.0mm i am useing the original piston that is still attached to motor is the piston size stamped on the piston . any help would be appreciated thanx:banghead:

their should be a number atop the piston. If you know for sure, that, that motor as yet to be bored, then oyu got the 82mm pistons in them.

measure the piston... not the ring.

The piston are stamped on the Top with the MM number. IF they are stock they are proble going to be STD. When you take the jugs off you should replace the Main Gasket. Also when putting the jugs on make sure the rings LINE UP WITH THE GROVE PIN. Use a mirror and check for the pin the the ring grove..
