I have owned two 97 GTXs and both were primarily dark green over white and a green hull. I see a lot of GTXs advertised on C-list as a 96 GTX but it too is the exact same color as a 97. Are people selling these skis confused, or did they really make a 96 GTX the same color as a 97? Just curious.

It is basically the same ski. Same color scheme, same engine, and all that. The seadoo decal on the 96 is a light purple and the 97 has a dark purple decal

I believe they are the same, I don't recall any differences

they are the same cosmetically, the 96 and 97 GSXs had slightly different rev limiter programming in the mpems so they could be slightly different but not anything to buy one over the other for a stock ski.

96 had the pink in the decals so they are easy to spot, the electronics are a little bit different.

In 97, didn't they get away from the grey electrical box?
Yes the 96 still uses the grey electrical box with the rectangle shaped MPEM in it. The 97 has a larger square shaped MPEM. I have noticed the 96 MPEM's are the same as the 96GSX's ending in 897.

I think the 97 GTX is the one I pulled apart last year that still had a grey box, but with the different style MPEM in it.
