Hi All,
My son just purchased a 2008 RXT-X it had 80hrs,now has 100 and supercharge maintenance is displayed, the dealer we purchased it from said he changed fluids and checked it over.
Do we still need to rebuild supercharger or is it ok,also how can we delete the message?
1 more question, I have always rode sleds(on snow) is the supercharger like a clutch on a snowmobile,it just slows down and less performance overtime so not a really big deal to rebuild clutch until wallet fills up again.
P.S still hits 70mph or so
Thanks...VA

I would rebuild the sc if I were you. While your washers will prolly only start to slip...not disintegrate like older models...your bearings will eventually fail. After that...the wheel touches down in the housing sending a cloud of fine aluminum dust into your motor...not to mention the real possibility of losing some needle bearings into the motor as well...almost as bad as washer failure...no?

The dealer wil clear your message for $30 or so, if you have him do nothing else.

The clutch washers in the sc saves it from unexpectant change in load. Without it, the sc spinning at 50K rpm or so, would shatter after the prop came back into load from landing in the water.

The washers's slip will gradually loosen over time causing a degradation in performance.

Rebuild it, superchargers are a wear item just like any other they have a 100 hr rebuild interval... it the clutch on your snowmobile fails, does it fling pieces of itself into the insides of the engine? If the supercharger bearings fail, that's exactly where they'll go is into the innards of the engine and they make a real mess in there.

You can save some money by pulling the supercharger yourself and taking it to the dealership to have them rebuild it, or send it off to a rebuilder , then reinstall it yourself. Of course you'll still have the nag message on your display until you take it in to a dealership and have them hook up their diagnostic computer to reset it... there is no way for the owner to reset it yourself, unfortunately (short of buying your own diagnostic system for a few hundred bucks).
