I have a 2013 GTR with 120 hrs. No problems with the supercharger should I rebuild or leave for 200 hrs. Thanks

A couple years ago, a customer of mine bought a 2008 RXT with under 60 hours on it. The supercharger bearings failed at 62 hours and I had to pull his engine apart. The supercharger bearing cages are made of plastic and, over time, get brittle and fail. 3ftDeep is right about checking the slip moment, though it won't tell you if the bearings are going to fail. Be safe and rebuild it. Acourding to BRP, 2012 and later 4-tec engines require rebuilding the supercharger every 2 years or 200 hours.

2 years or 200 hours? Might as well keep the old 100 hour interval. Why the 2 years? I could see 4 years or 200 hours. I cant imagine that many putting 200 hours in 2 years seadoo.

This is a PR thing. No parts were changed or updated to get the 200 hour change. BRP did this so that it find the sound like you had to rebuild the SC every year. Very few can hit the 200 hour mark within the two years. So the risk was/is minimal for BRP.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will pull them and rebuild (I have two 2013 GTRs) has anyone used PWC for rebuilds?

correct on the hours, very very few people even hit close to 100 hours a year, its seems like nothing but actually its a LOT, even when I was hardcore into riding on my XP, every weekend (many times saturday AND sunday) 20-30 weekdays a year and I still only 180 on in a 12 month period. Now i'm more likely to hit about 60-75 hours a year, i've been very very lazy.

actually RIVA suggests 100 hours between rebuilds, I'll make my decision on that in 98 hours :)

Wonder how the new 300's will be with no maint chargers. Prob just have to buy a new one and how many hours they will last
