I recently purchased a 2012 GTR 215 with 51 hrs ,my concern is the supercharger, my understanding is that it does not have the ceramic washers ..? What about the bearings ? Is there any problems there or are they ok..? TIA
It does not have ceramic washers but it does require rebuilding as a maintenance item mostly due to possible bearing failure which is very common due to the plastic spacers in the bearing that get old and brittle. If you don't know the last time it was rebuilt or if it has never been rebuilt then it will need rebuilt right away. When bearings fail, it can cause a lot of damage and require the engine to be pulled and gone through so not worth the risk.
Exposure to rust is another supercharger concern where time not hours come into play especially in salt water. If the supercharger does fail it can take out the whole engine. Not a scheduled maintenance item you want to save a couple hundred bucks on.
