Starter motor got me stumped

Hi all, got a few questions regarding starter motors on seadoo xp800 96. Firstly, can anyone tell me how many teeth the starter should have? I've mixed all the parts up across 3 starters and some have 8, some have 9.

Also what has got me really stumped, I've just over hauled a starter and reassembled and it's turning the wrong way, the connections are right and brushes aren't crossed, it's really got me baffled. Anyone shed any light?

You have the brush hood out 90 degrees. OR... your center (magnets) are out.


As I recall... the 800 used the 8 tooth, for ore torque.
