I just bought a 95 seadoo xp for $800 with trailer. This guy wants to trade his 2 jet skis that need some work for one.

What do you guys think? I would love to have 2 but dont know if it is worth it and I don't want to give him my running ski for 2 skis that need alot of work and then have them not work. Thanks in advance.

I just talked to the guy and he says that he had the top end replaced on the tigershark and just hasnt completed the job. They were running before the starter went out and rebuilding the top end on the other one. Would you have him get them running and then do the trade? I dont want to get screwed.

I would have reservations especially the Tiger Shark, these skiis have not been manufactured for several years, and new parts are pretty much non-existant, used parts are scarce also. They are neat skiis, fast, altho not very stable.

The GTX is a good ski, however if the seat needs to be recovered its either got a lot of hours of been stored outside without a cover, also if you decide to trade, check to see if the new starter is made in China. If it is, its no good, and plan on either rebuilding the starter that's on the ski or buying a new one for about $250-300.

OK thanks for the reply. Id like to have 2 skis but dont want to trade my running one for 2 that may not run. I think I'll pass. I'll just wait till next year and sell my camper (its a pos!!!) and the ski to buy a jet boat!!! If wanted one for a while lol.

I know. I bought my 95 xp like 3 weeks ago so me and the fiance could take it with us to the lake while my friend has his boat out. He likes to have several people go and it gets a little crowded. If it was a few months back I would jump at it for a project but I don't want to waste my summer working on my summer toy! If I had $1000 I would buy them to fix up and sell. I just needed to think it through! And why get rid of the xp when I LOVE it!!! haha. I'm a small guy and its fun to whip around on!
Thanks for your insights Lou!!!

Just needs a starter...LOL 80% of PWC horror stories start with that line!!!

Dude those things are thrashed...the trailer is so so and the tigershark sux.

If your Xp is in decent shape I would keep it. Or....if he throws in $500...LOL

Thanks.... I've heard horror stories of the tigersharks. Ill just keep the xp this year and hopefully sell it next year to buy a jet boat! haha. Thanks for helping me not screw myself!

Yeah look at the pictures closely...something is holding the hood together.

The next ski you should buy is a 96 XP, 97-99 SPX. The 787 is a monster upgrade from what you have...and the 720 aint bad.

Im happy with the Xp and if I dont buy a boat next year I will be looking for another ski. I love the 720 so far. Not real mechanical but so far it is easy to work on. But I wouldnt mind a 787. How much faster are they?

Not a ton faster on top, but you def feel the difference. Your 720 is a lot easier to work on though!

I kinda stumbled onto this one. I was picking up my fiance from her class and my high school teacher who now does drivers ed happened to be there and was mad cuz people kept calling him about his jet ski and wouldnt come look at it. Well long story short I went to his house and he sold it to me for $800 bucks. Runs great but needs a few things such as the vts and the boot that keeps water from it and a new seat cover. The gas guage works none of the others do but I'm fine with that. Plus I new that he wouldn't screw me over.
