cheers mick

I will move this post to the 2-stroke forum so others of knowledge will see it.

I assume you changed the lines as you had the Grey Tempo lines, yes!

If so, did you have fuel to the carbs prior to doing the job?

hi thanks for your reply no i bought as a non runner wasnt getting fuel then sombody mentioned there could be a diapram in the crankcase fr the pulse i was told whem bought it the guy didnt winterise it wen he cameto start it then next year he couldnt get fuel to it if u pour fuel down pots it fires cheers mick

Let's do some simple things first.

It should gravity feed a good part of the way.

Do you get fuel before the filter if you disconnect the line? After/through the filter?

Doc Honda or Lou know this system way better than I do. I believe there is a pulse line and that line picks up from the crank case. Also think there is a fuel pump in one of the carbs.

But again, Dr Honda will confirm things.

It is VERY common for the selector to fail due to the green goo the Grey Tempo line creates with today's fuels.

When it does, no fuel will flow. Try it on reserve and see what happens.

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

You will need to clarify something first. I'm pretty sure, SeaDoo didn't make a 98GTX with a 787 (800) engine. So if it's a 98GTX limited it will either have a 951 with carburetors or it's an rfi (fuel injected). The reason I'm mentioning this is the fuel systems are slightly different on a 800 and a 951. The 800 has a rotary valve and the 951 uses reed valves.

However since it's has carburetors the fuel delivery is similar in both engines. There's a fuel pump in the mag. side carb. (that's the carb. toward the front of the ski). There should be a vacuum line from this carb. to a fitting on the engine block. Remove the hose and see if there is a pulse when you turn the motor over. If there is it's most likely the diaphragm in the carburetor.

Lou is on the right path. Check the pump diaphragm. But, if there are any leaks in the fuel system up to the carbs, then it won't draw fuel. So... also try this...

Pull the fuel feed hose from the carb and try to suck fuel from it. I'm betting you won't get any. If that's the case, then the most likely issues would be the o-ring in the filter or the seal in the fuel valve.

Or attach a clear line from the fuel pump into a small jerry can or container of gas. (you can get away with the cheap vinyl water line for this quick test. See if the line primes when the engine is cranked. Should take no more than 3-5 seconds to reach the carbs. If it doesn't reach the carbs, then you have either a pulse line issue, diaphram issue, or super clogged internal carb filter/return orifice.

If it does prime the line, you have a clogged internal carb filter/passages inside the carb. Also watch the line for "bleed back". After you stop cranking the engine, the fuel should stay in the line. If you notice it start to retreat towards the fuel container, the check valves are shot in the fuel pump.

Did you remove the needles from the seats? If not, then they may be stuck together and no fuel will flow into the carbs. Been there.

Hi guys thanks for all the replys I have rebuilt carbs new diaphragms etc I've Tyred putting fresh fuel from a can cranking the engine and nothing happens. If it is the pulse line which I'll check in the morning how would I rectify this cheers mick
