Does anybody have a thread link on how to remove the jet pump assembly or any instructions/advice?

I have the manual but it's convoluted, what is the easiest way to pull it so I can check if the drive shaft has jammed the jet pump and put it back in (if it hasn't) ?

Thanks

Sorry I didn't respond to your PM about this, worked late, had to put brakes on my car and my son had ice hockey practice. Just not enough hours in the day to breathe sometimes. Typically I can't post up during the day anymore with my new job, I don't have the luxury any more. I have enough time to stuff a sammich down and answer a few texts before I'm back to work. A 1/2 hour doesn't go far these days.

Anywho....................

First pull the stainless collar back on the driveshaft and remove the C Clip from the carbon seal assy. Then remove the oetiker clamps from the PTO and the driveshaft.

Look behind the VTS box and remove the 2 cable ties from the bailer tubes where they come thru the hull and remove the tubes .

Use a screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp from the water inlet hose from the pump, remove the hose.

You need a 10mm box wrench and a 1/4" drive with a 10mm shallow socket to remove the steering cable.

You need an 8mm wrench(o maybe a phillips head screw driver)to remove the screw from the VTS adjust rod on the top of the trim ring.

Now get a 3/8 ratchet with a few extensions and a 17mm deep socket to get you past the steering nozzle. Remove al 4 nuts, washers and lock washers.

Steadily pull back on the nozzle and the top left corner of the pump will have some RTV holding it, just keep pulling and eventually it will break free. The pump should pull back and of the ski.

I just did this on my 95 SPX. Pump was glued on so tight 2 days of messing with it and pulling on it, it still would not come off. I took a piece of 3/4 ply and cut it to where it would rest against the trailer and the back of the hull, but low enough that I could still see the top of the pump. I went and got a piece of all thread (I believe it was M6x1.00) and cut it into 4 pieces. Thread the 4 pieces on the pump, mark and drill your holes in the wood, slide the wood on, attach washer and nuts to each piece of all thread and you have a home made pump puller. I have read where other people use a 2x4, but I found the plywood to be easier for my application. Make sure you turn all of the nuts equally so the pump comes off evenly.

remove the C Clip from the carbon seal assy.

Are you talking about the o-ring that sits under the front of the stainless ring seal carrier?
....If not I don't see any metal c-clip in person or on the parts fiche.

At the same place.

Thread the 8x1.25mm all-thread in to the bolt holes that attach the nozzle to the pump?

The O-ring is updated to the C-Clip. This allows for replacement without having to remove the shaft. Also, the O-ring style has been known to fail and then the ski is pretty much an anchor,,,,

Looks like #2 to me as that is the one under the collar. Looks like 7 is behind it. Either way, it is the one under the collar.

Some really cool guy even made a video and listed the part number for the c-clip.

(In case you're wondering...........that cool guy was me)

Before you go building the "puller" just make sure you removed everything I mentioned and just grab the pump and pull back and keep pressure on. Unless someone went apechit with RTV the pump is only held on with a little bit of silicone where the water inlet tube and bailer tubes enter the hull. I've never met an X4 pump that I couldn't pull off with just my hands. Again....look around the pump, if you can see silicone rtv all the way around the perimeter of the pump it SHOULD just pull off with minimal struggle. Yes those screws are M8X1.25

Well they gooped it on mine, finally after getting a little PO'd and not being able to find any 8x1.25MM all thread I used a 2x4 and a tie down and torqued on it and then yanked the crap out of it and worked it back & forth FINALLY it came off......but yes I had all of the hardware off.

When you put it back together you need the neoprene seal and just the right amount or Permatex ultra black.

Neoprene seal is part# 293200024

It's that a coat of ultra black on the neoprene seal or is that just the seal itself that looks grey in the picture?

Just the seal. The neo takes the place of the silicone so you can actually remove the pump, without a pulling rig.
