Jet Pump Plastic Fins Broken

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine is dealing with severe cavitation in their jet pump. While disassembling it to replace the wear ring, I noticed that a few of the plastic fins in the jet pump housing are broken.

My question is: if I go ahead and replace the wear ring, is it still okay to use the existing pump? Or will the broken fins cause continued cavitation, meaning the pump needs to be replaced entirely?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Were you able to resolve the cavitation issues? I ask because I was experiencing cavitation issues on my Speedster. This was one of the issues I encountered which is all outlined in my thread. Unfortunately for me, replacing the pumps showed no improvement on my cavitation issues. I ultimately replaced everything from carbon seals to wear ring to pump housing and even removed and resealed the shoes. What ended up being the driver of my issue was the reverse buckets not fully locking in the upward (forward) position and disrupting flow. I had several broken vanes like what you have pictured. I'm sure they contributed to the issue but it was not quantifiable since I couldn't drive the boat before or after replacing them.
