Rebuilt jet pump but now will not start

Ok, very easy to verify.

On top of the fuel baffle right where the fuel line connects to each of the 4 ports they are marked on the outer top edge.

1.ON
2.RES
3.RET
4.VENT


#1 goes to the ON port on the fuel selector
#2 goes to the RES port on the fuel selector
#3 is the return line from the PTO carb
#4 is the VENT line



On the fuel selector, you have ONE line that will feed into the fuel strainer. It goes on the one with the arrow pointing IN to the fuel strainer

the other port coming from the fuel strainer will have an arrow pointing OUT, that goes to teh fuel inlet on the MAG carb.

All done!

Ok, good news. I varified that all my lines where running to there respective places. Which I had them correct from when I replaced the lines in the first place. I bought the brake bleeder and vacum pump soccerdad suggested and it worked great. I first hooked up the inlet line from the inline fuel filter to the vacum pump turned the fuel to on and started pumping. No fuel would come through the lines into the built in reservoir on the pump, but it would hold pressure on the lines which varified that all my connections were nice and tight. I then did the same procedure with the fuel selector set on reserve. Still no fuel coming through my lines to the reservoir. So i decided to hook up the "on" line to my pump and completley bypass the Brand New Fuel selector valve so the fuel was running through the fuel water seperator and through the inline fuel filter and BINGO! The fuel started coming through the lines! So all along the brand new fuel selector i purchased and replaced my old fuel selector with was the culprit the entire time. So now Im going to put the old selector on and see If its still in good working order and try to get ahold of the company i bought the selector from off eBay and get my money back. Thanks all for all your help and pointing me in the right direction! You guys are a great help!!

Interesting, thanks for posting the solution. Defective parts does occur occasionally, especially aftermarket from some foreign countries.

Absolutely, if it's made in China you know it's quality. A friend of mine just bought a Mercury 4 stroke 60HP outboard, guess where it's made, CHINA!!!

This is why unemployment is so low in Asia. The irony is, it won't be long Mercury will be wondering why they can't compete with Chinese companies marketing outboards in the US and the rest of the world.

Not a huge fan of foreign built equipment that I use, but I do like my Austrian built Rotax engine.

Just wait, China will get their act together with manufacturing. Some is great quality but most is crap. They have the ability if it is required by the company specking it. Remember when Made in Japan and Made in Taiwan was negative? I guess if you remember that long ago you also remember when thing actually said Made in USA too.
