rebuilding 4tec RXP valve drop

Pulled the engine out of my 04 rxp this weekend and split the cases. Hope to take it to the machine shop tomorrow and have the cylinders bored to fit new pistons. It wasnt nearly as bad of a job as I though, but not something I want to do every day.

Im looking for a new head obviously but also will be picking up a complete gasket kit, 3 new pistons/rings (.5mm), and a supercharger rebuild kit. Anything else I should consider while I am at it? Nothing else appeared to be damaged or look bad so im happy about that. Thoughts?

Toss a new timing chain in. Order the new flywheel bolts. If you want a drop in head with updated valves pm me. Might better throw in main and journal bearings and replace the head bolts connecting rod bolts case bolts and rocker arm bolts.

Just curious,,,

What did they do to "update" the valves? I assume the intent is to help prevent a valve from dropping??

Hey Joe, in mid 06' skis brp went to a solid shaft exhaust valve. In previous model years mid 06' and down the exhaust valves have a hollow stem. When the 4tec engine shuts off their is 100% humidity on the valve stems, all this humidity comes from the water box. Although the 4tec when shut off will stop the engine at TDC so the exhaust vavles are closed the stems still rot and break.
