I have two 1997 XP's. One wasnt getting fire so I swapped the MPEM with my other one and it fired right up. Problem solved.

My question is.....is the 97 XP's MPEM model specific? Or will an MPEM out of another model ski work?

Some one told me an MPEM out of a GTX 787 would work, and its $100 cheaper, is this true?

Thanks in advance!

any 787 mpem will work, problem is, is that on the XP, all wires come into 2 or 3 plugs, then those plug into the mpem, where the gtx mpem, all wires have there own plugs. So if your into cut'n them up and putting your own plugs, then yup, it'll work. Autzone sells the "water resistant" plugs w/ wires attached.

Mpem

I gotcha. Yeah, it'll probably be easier just to spend the extra $100 and buy the XP MPEM. I'm not to big into cuttin up wires, better keep it simple!

Thanks alot man!

Interesting question. I was just sitting at Burger King for lunch and thought of exactly the same question.

How much that MPEM running you?

So, would these be feasible to yank out at salvage yards?

What would they cost, what would be the chance of them working, and how can you test them?

Would good battery and correctly programmed lanyard giving a double beep be a 100% positive test?

if there was a salvage yard by me i would grab a ton of them, people are making a killing on them on ebay, along with every thing else

Contact "All Things Custom" before you spend $500. HE may be able to repair yours. He just fixed mine for $198. I have a 98 GTS

Mikes a good guy, only prob, his specialty is the 5amp fuse fix. He'll troubleshoot the board, so it'll cost some money and it aint guarrentee that he'll fix it
