question on hydro-turf

looking for input on which to get - molded diamond or just the cut-diamond... it looks like the molded diamond is nice on the sport boats, but wonder if it's appropriate on a utopia... if it overshadows the boat itself... also wonder if the molded can be hard on your feet after a while...

any input would be great...

also - dark grey or light grey?... have the 2002 utopia with white and navy blue upholstery...

I used the cut diamond on my Challenger 2000 for two reasons:

1) The diamonds have sharper edges than the molded, which gives your feet better grip. Don't worry about comfort, the HydroTurf is very comfortable.

2) Certain colors are only available in EITHER molded or cut, not both. The light grey that EXACTLY matches the grey trim on my boat (bump rail, handrails, grip handles, lots of things) thankfully was available in cut but not in molded. Your choice of color may dictate which diamond you get, or vice versa.

Also, I believe the aspect ratio (length to width relationship) of the cut is different than the molded. You may have a preference.

I strongly recommend having them send samples of the colors and cuts you are considering. They are very good about sending samples, and the colors are very different in person. I would have ordered the wrong grey if I hadn't had samples.

Do you have a link to a photo of the interior of your Challenger with the Hydroturf. I have samples, but I can't decide on the gray or dark blue. I think it will be easier to make a decision if I see some of the other boats like mine.

Is the piece for the ski locker a single piece with the cut diamond, or is it in 2 pieces?

Sorry, I don't have a photo like that. The boat is in storage at the moment so I can't take a quick photo.

HydroTurf sent me a two-piece solution at first, despite my specifically asking about that. I called, and they apologized and immediately sent out a one-piece that fit and worked great. They're a great company!

I ended up with the deep blue hydroturf



My kids talked me into the deep blue and my wife wanted the cut ridge pattern. I think it came out good and I know that it will make a major improvement in the overall safety and appearance of the boat.
