Hey Guys,

Thanks guys ... Quick post from cottage ... Ski is running well quick check with candoo is showing knock sensor isnt happy but thats prolly since im burning fuel thats been sittin in tank since god knows when. Ill get toolon around with photobucket a bit later!

Pics ... Pics and Pics .. Yah I went a bit crazy with the pics ... LoLz

Well guys here she is how I found er'. Pretty rough, the black hull was so sunbaked it almost look like someone waxed it and didn't buff the wax off ...

I knew the engine was in rough shape (valve dropped), when I got it all apart I discovered the supercharger dropped a washer. I big piece of the washer got stuck on the thrust washer in the crank case and mangled the bottom case. Luckily the crank was okay.

Loving it... its pretty torquey for the size of it ... but man these things eat gas!!

She was rough foster thats for sure. I was stressed seein it when i got to NC (16hrs one way). Whats really ironic though is there was 47 hrs on this one too lolZ! Can u believe that rolf!

Never in a million years did I expect to see that jetski looking that good. I applaud you! I imagine that gas had been in that tank for about 2-6 months before I got it. I'm really surprised it ran with that gas. I hope everything worked out well for you with this ski. It looks like a TON of fun. I'm sorry I didn't know about the dropped washer. :( I figured that once I found the problem in the top side, I didn't expect anything else to be wrong. It looks really good! Congratulations!

Thanks man and no worries on the washer. I should get you some more pics of the tub she came back nice. Lotsa 3m compound and buff magic lols. I've got a new decal set to go on too.

You were wondering about total cost ... breaks down like this.

$1032.36 For the ski
$450.00 Travel costs to get it.
$1000.00 for used cylinder head and cases
$1100.00 for new valves, piston, ring sets, gaskets etc.

By the time I got the new BlackTip kit installed and grapics I'm somewhere between $3500.00 and $4000.00 sounds pricey but in my opionion well worth it, that tub is valued at around $6000.00 up here. Although after playing with it for a few days I don't think I'll be selling it.

Cheers!

I wish you were closer.
I want to be more 4 stroke mechanically inclined to take on project like that.

Looks like a sweet ride

Nice job.

I don't wonder into the 4-tec sections much... but I think next summer, I need to find a 4-stroke project ski.

Looks great, nice job!

Any reason you didn't put the head on while on the bench? Much easier to put timing chain on and set timing and then use the lifting hooks to install the entire motor. The only thing I don't install is the intake manifold and throttle body, even exhaust manifold is easier on the bench but it does help to hook up a few things while the engine is hovering above it's mounts.

Thanks Ski-Doo ... I'm kind of a backyard guy just getting started. I don't have a lift right now. So I find lifting just the lower case in is a lot easier on my back lols. And yah getting the starter hooked up is a little easier with the head outta the way. If I had a lift I would for sure just drop the completly assembled long block in though.

Cheers!

Cool beans! Was the hull polished up already in those on-the-water pics you posted or were they from your 1st test riding? It's nice to see one brought back from the brink like this! Great job!

Hey if you haven't already, run a can of seafoam in your next tank or 2 of fuel it'll help clean out that fuel system! The knock-sensor will thank you!

And now you know why these PWC's come with a 15 gallon fuel tank! Vroom, Vroom! :-)

They're really not that bad on fuel economy when you're just cruising around at a constant speed, but when you're constantly hitting the throttle is does suck on that fuel cell pretty hard. ;-)

Thanks for the advice Micheal will do ..

What have you seen for top speed on your RXT? I see yours is a year newer but I think there the same other than a colour change?

I don't spend much time at WOT, the only time I went near WOT it was going ~67mph according to the OEM speedo. I still had more throttle to go, it wasn't quite at WOT yet. Had about 1/2 tank of fuel that afternoon. Also, I have filled my ride-plate bolt hole recesses and sealed and smoothed all around my R&D Aquavein intake grate (both cheap and easy to do and HIGHLY recommended!), and installed a Solas 13/18 impeller and fresh wear ring... otherwise mine's stock engine wise. I'd very much like to add the nozzle trim system from an RXP to my RXT as a next upgrade if it's possible, a little up-trim at times would sure be nice to have!

I've tried to match up my OEM speedo with a gps app on my smart phone to no avail, it's been too rough everytime I've tried... in rough water the RXT cannot hold an exact steady speed long enough for me to figure out how close the speedo is to the gps speed. Grrrrrr!
