Parts Left Over?!

My mechanic had these parts 'left over' when fixing my 2002 XP

Most likely could go the next 5 years without them, but I'm OCD like that...

so... WHERE DO THEY GO?! thanks guys. best guess is fine, I plan to look over it this weekend...

the 'pin' clip goes into the air intake system, the other thing looks like a bracket, and the tiny screw has rust on it, so it goes somewhere deep on the engine?

finally the big one looks like part of an exhaust braket...

am I close?

yea

similar, but much smaller, it was on the air silencer when I pulled it, he says he's never seen that before.

the plate, looks something like a battery holder from a polaris. The pin//?, the rusted bolt, who knows....BUT, the allen bolt w/washer, is the bolt that secures the carb bracket to the pipe.

Yup I'm with Seadooya on this one. The bracket and the body pin (the hitch pin) didn't come from a SeaDoo. The hex bolt with the big washer could be a pipe bolt, and the sheet metal screw is for holding plastic parts to the fiberglass.

Personally, I would stop taking your ski to that shop. I can accept a few extra bolts... but something like that bracket would be important, and since it probably didn't come from your ski... That's extra bad. (someone else is missing it)

Those are all parts from your xp. Here's what they are....

1. The bracket bolts to the underside of your pto cover.

2. The R-clip goes on your air silencer.

3. The allen screw looks to be the carb bracket to exhaust pipe bolt due to it's short length and large washer.

4. The small screw goes into a plastic boss, used in several locations but most likely in the black electrical box because of the rust.

The bracket attaches to the bottom of the PTO cover at the rear of the engine.
The allen bolt secures the bracket that goes from the top of the carbs to the exhaust pipe.
The "hairpin" is used to lock the air box clip into place after it secures the air box.
The mechanic probably found the self-tapping screw in the bottom of the hull after he removed the engine. It could go any number of places. As previously posted, it is used to secure something to fiberglass or plastic. It may have come from hood, etc. and fallen down under the engine.

I think it is nuts a so called mechanic doesnt have any clue wher this stuff is missing from. I think I would find a new one.

hmm...never seen the "r" clip on the xp, and for the pto bracket, havnt removed a motor from a 951xp.....cool.

the early xp didn't use the R-clip, i think around 2001 they starting using them. you stated your mechanic has never seen a clip like that? any mechanic who's never seen that clip i wouldn't want working on my seadoo.

I would check inside the elec box, pretty sure that bolt should be in there to hold your coil or solenoid in place. even though that bolt size is common, the only place seadoo uses non stainless steel hardware is in sealed compartments where they are not supposed to get wet, but we all know how that ends up.

Wow u guys are good.

Yes, the bracket is to under the PTO cover, I will work on that hopefully this week. The small screw was to the top of the PTO cover, and the pin was to the air box. (Installed Sunday)

I will also look for the carbs to exhaust bolt.

thanks everyone!!!

He does usually work on the older stuff, perhaps not seeing a pin, as for the bracket, he did tell me where it goes, he said he just couldn't get it on.

He's not a dealer or anything, just a guy with a garage who's rebulit 2 engines now for me, and afterwards, they run awesome... and he's 1/2 the price of the dealer... the local dealer (don's kawasaki) I don't like or trust. I've had them do work and it was always 1/2 ass... bolts loose, parts missing. at least he told me flat out he couldn't get the bracket back on... if he hid this fact, I'd have never known...

It's really not necessary to put the PTO cover bracket back on (engineering overkill) but I would definetly install the carb/exhaust bracket bolt.
