One Choice: Stereo or Hydro-turf?

I am torn between adding a stereo system to the Speedster or adding Hydro-turf. Which would, in everyone's opinion, be the best upgrade if you had to choose one? Thanks for the input!

Thats a tough one. I have basically the same boat and have done both mods. I always say the turf was the best mod I have done. Not only does it make the boat more comfortable, it greatly improves the appearance.

I love my audio system though. I use it a lot. The turf is gonna be like $275 and that wont get much of an audio system. So for now i would do the turf and save for the stereo.

go with Hydroturf!! Every Sea Doo Boat should have it as an addition I believe, if for nothing else safety from slipping

It's gotta be HT

As most have commented do the turf and don't think about it anymore. If that is your boat pictured ya have to search the net and look at that exact boat with black, diamond cut pattern installed . It gives that boat a whole new look and you will think you have a new boat once it's all down.

BTW , spring the extra coin and get it pre-cut wit the 3M adhesive backing. Took me about 2 hours and be extra careful to clean and apply it according to the instructions.

The guy who just posted above (Tresvatos) has the same boat with the black cut diamond. Search his posts for pics.

I got a depth sounder, and new trailer bunks to put on sometime in next couple of days...then the stereo is next in line the woofer upgrade that is!

I need to read some post and find out where the best place to mount the Depth Sunder Transducer at inside the hull..

I am leaning toward the Cut Diamond Black on top with either Yellow or Grey Lines. Inquiring with Hydro-Turf if it's possible and costs. Will definitely get the 3M backing to make the install easier. Have to wait till it warms up to install since I don't have the Speedster garaged.

Check out my thread on where I put the transducer. With all the issues everyone had with placement and clear readings, I ended up mounting it on the back. Used it twice with pefect readings. Also, I replaced the bunk boards this past fall and installed TACO Trailer Glyde Sticks. Makes launching and recovering the Speedster with ease.

I am curious how the 2 tone turf looks. I would like to see someone use it. thats a new option or I would have tried it.

i got samples of black with grey grooves and grey with black grooves when deciding what to put on my yamaha waverunner... i ended up going with snow camo, but the two tone colors looked nice

i bet the black with yellow would look really sharp

Cleaning

How easy is the Hydro-Turf to keep clean? I am thinking of getting white for my interior. Does it stain?:bigear:

Ive got dark grey and have never had problems keep it it clean. I have spilled drinks and beer and sunscreen on it with no problems. I have heard some people have stained it, so it may stain but it does hold up very well. There is no way I would get white though. I bet it would stain and personally I just think it would be ugly. Get a contrasting color and it adds to the appearance. White wouldnt look much different.

Not looking to add colour to the interior. I like it white.

P.S. I spill beer in my mouth!

Whiteout

One of the reasons I laid down the HT was I got sick of seeing the dirt show up on the white floor of the boat. No matter how much I scrubbed it it always looked dirty. I think you would run into similar issues with all white HT. evn though it cleans well I still think it would get dirty and show each and everytime.

But hey everyone is different..if you want white go for it.

Ya, that's why I was asking. Thanks. I am going to get a couple samples. I like the look of the white granite where the "dirt" may just blend in, so I might go with that. Any other colour I think would be too bold in the boat. IMO.

I was taking out my rave valves while sitting in the backseat, and i was setting them on a towel on the deck as they came out. Well I must have kicked the towel by accident because when I was done, a rave was on the hydroturf.... haven't been able to remove the stain. I also spilled a little oil on the swim platform's turf and it stained.

Not a huge deal to me... just be careful when doing engine work. Spilled drinks have been fine

Mine is dark purple btw

The HT will clean up nice with warm water and a stiff brush. Around here... some of the lakes suffer from mine drainage, and makes a funky orange color in the water. It has stained my hull, but my turf has allways cleaned up.

I also agree with the white turf. It may be hard to clean, and will start to show stains. Besides... look how nice a contrasting color looks.......

I appreciate everyones input. So we are all on the same page, I wouldn`t change the HT on the outside. It would stay the same.
So with that being said... by popular demand, white not being a contender for the INSIDE of the boat....I am open for suggestions. Thanks.

Cleaning up the HT was a concern of mine also..glad to hear that normal stuff like beer and drinks come up easily. I'll have to watch out for the grease or oil though. Seems like every time I work on the boat I get grease handprints everywhere.

I talked to HT yesturday and thier accounting software was down so they couldn't quote me on Cut Diamond, Black with Yellow grooves for my Speedster SK. They were saying it would be an additional $60 or so for the 2 tone. Hopefully the quote will be reasonable. The more I think about the 2 tone black/yellow the more I like it. It will be a nice contrast with the rest of the boat. I was considering the yellow camo but there is already another SK out there with that pattern. Got to stay original!

Flying Army, that sounds like it will look awesome. I'm excited to see it.

Noswal...you really should think about getting the kit to do the whole boat. The difference in appearance is night and day improvement. for your boat, I would do the purple or teal green.

It made my boat look like a totally different boat.

After many hours of pondering I have decided to do both, HT & stereo. These are my system choices. Going without an AMP first, not looking to play music for the whole beach just the passengers. I have always been a fan of RF speakers and these are a little pricey but worth it if I do upgrade to an AMP since they can handle the power. Opinions welcome!
