My 1998 GTX LTD 951cc (carbureted) has lost compression in one of it's cylinders. I read online that it's most likely the crank seals. I'd rather give the ski away than pay to rebuild the engine/crankshaft. Before posting the ski for free on marketplace, I had the thought that it might just be rings and I would be down to try a DIY re-ring (just rings, not any serious machine work and not 'doing it right'). Boroscoping down the spark plug holes, the pistons do not look happy, but I have no idea what I'm looking at.
I am interested in the community's opinion on if my compression loss is from rings or if I should give the ski away. I already bought a well priced 4 stroke to replace this ski on my trailer.
The ski was given to me 4 years ago and the engine was rust-seized when I got it, so I've already enjoyed this ski way longer than I was supposed to.
