I'm a little bit behind getting my sea doo 180 ready. Didn't get a chance to change the oil yet and spark plugs.

Just wondering if anyone is using the Castrol Actevo X-Tra 4T Semi Synthetic Oil 10W40 (motorcycle oil) in their supercharged engine ? I've been using the rotella T6 oil in the past in my sea doo 150 non SC with great success but that's a full synthetic oil.

i'm going to do oil change more often than the recommended every 100 hours or once a season.

I know what oil BRP recommends, but at the same time BRP doesn't make their own oil and from what I understand Castrol used to supply BRP with their own oil anyway.

Can't answer your specific question about the brand of oil. However, I will throw some advice at you. Change the oil at the end of the season no matter how many hours are on the engine. Why??? You get rid of any contaminents, acids, dirt, water ect ect and it does not sit on your crank all winter long. Moisture and water get into oil, it is pretty much unavoidable. So, by changing the oil at the end of the sason, you are safe all winter long and ready for next season,,,,

Thanks. Im actually aware of that…. just didn't get a chance to do it at the end of the season when I bought the boat. I will do is same thing my friend is doing on his landscaping machines. He changes the oil before the winter and than he does it again in the spring once he warms up the engine. He is also using synthetic oils. Maybe an overkill but he has few machines that he still uses after 10 years.
