No one seems to have exact steps in replacing the steering cable. They gloss over many things. Many are for other brands, and don't apply to Seadoos. The service manual will walk you through complete steering disassembly, but you don't even have to mess with the handle bars, at all. You basically just need a 10mm wratchet, some PB Blaster or Sea Foam Deep Creep, small adjustable wrench, a plumbing tool most home owners have around the house, and a stubby screw driver.

Here's a quick way to replace your steering cable:

  • Make yourself a drink :0 :0 :)
  • Use a nice little organizational bin so you remember and retain which parts when together and the order they were removed so all you have to do is go in reverse Google
  • Remove the connector on the jetpump
  • Remove everything that is too big to fit through the hole in the hull (you will pull the cable from the front)
  • Use the next to smallest shower drain remover tool from a plumbing set, and a short screw driver to back out the plug at the rear of the hull near the jetpump https://www.amazon.com/General-Tool...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
  • Remove the dual air feeds at front of ski under front bin (1 10mm nut)
  • Remove nut (10mm nut inside front behind bin)
  • Remove seat
  • Push airbox out from area under seat in between glove compartment twist to wiggle out
  • Cut zip ties at rear inside engine compartment
  • Remove 10mm bolt at top of steering assembly
  • Remove retainer bolts (also 10mm at harness area)
  • Pull out cable from gas fill side of ski
Reverse the steps to reinstall.

Notes on reverse install:

From the backside near the pump the (what I call shims) that fit within the hole in the back must be installed with the steering cable as short as possible so they and the screw plug can seat. But you have to seat them on the appropriate area of the cable, so in order to do that, the cable has to be extended further manually. I used a grease on the shims to keep them stuck to the area they needed to be in so they wouldn't fall off during insert. Probably a good idea to do that anyway because it seems like an exposed area of the cable that may need grease from time to time.

After that attach everything back at the front.

Align steering wheel straight.

Attach balljoint to the pump.
