Oil in Bilge

My '95 Sportster has been stored in my heated garage since mid-september. Just noticed today that my bilge is "full" of oil. Tank is down about about 1-2 litres, and oil light is on.

Is is possible that this is simply an oil line leak, or is there a way it can leak through the engine without the engine having been started?? Engine starts and runs, same as normal.

We had a similar issue with our 96' speedster. Reach down to the bottom of the oil tank where the main oil line runs out. The grommet that connects the oil line to the tank might be leaking, ours was cracked. If that's not the issue just continue down the oil line until you find someone.

Agree...

:agree:.... This is usually the problem. Many members have had a problem with the grommet. If it's not the oil tank, I would def be searching for a leaking oil hose.

If not the oil tank, then like pointed out, trace the two lines from the bottom. One goes to the rotary chamber, the other to the oil injection system. You also have a return line from the rotary chamber that connects to the top of the oil tank. Make sure this is not leaking.......

My XP did this once. The hose broke at the clamp from vibration down under the engine.

Don't run the engine anymore until you fix the leak, in case it it the oil feed line into the engine.
