Hi All
I am new to the site, surfed it a bit and looks like we can get lots of info here.
I am very close of buying a 2008 RXT X 255.
heard and read lots of good things about it, the only one I don't really like is the 100 hours supercharger rebuild thing.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated
:hurray:

Thanks

That's if it makes it to the 100 hour service. I have a 2008 150 Speedster in my yard with a warranty rebuild at 19 hours. Glad it's not mine. I think the newer seadoo's all will have a super charger i them, so I think they have the problem resolved. Going fast costs money and maintenance.

Hey Highball

I'm in the same boat, about the super charger. I just bought a new 2008 Wake 215. This I do know, in 2008 and newer they fixed a problem with the SC clutch where as older models had ceramic washers in them from the factory. 08 and Newer have hardened Steel so I'm hope that problem is solved.

Supercharger

I asked the dealer about it and this is what he replied

The original washers in the superchargers were steel and would ware out,the new washers for the past 3 years are ceramic washers with almost no ware, you do a 100 hour check of hoses, boost, general check over.

So what and who to beleive ?????

:willy_nilly:

Another bull shit deal is the SC isn't covered in the after warranty warranty I think they call it BEST anyway when I was asked by the Salesman about wanting the extended warranty I asked about the SC being covered, and it isn't, he said because its a wear item, I told hims so is the pistons, rings, bearings, hull, and everything else I could see his point if he was telling me the brakes and belts and shocks but shut up,,, wear item.

Your salesman got it wrong, its what I orginally said, first it was ceramic and then steel. The real problem is the ceramic washers come apart and gets into the engine doing more damage. But hey if you want to believe someone that sells Sea-Doo's and should no everything about them I couldn't blame you, This is my first Sea-Doo and I only Google SEADOO and Supercharger to find my answer.:hurray:

It's a known problem that the ceramic washers don't last, and seadoo has upgraded to the steel washers, since 2009 model. If your in doubt about the truth call around seadoo dealers and see if one will give you some GOOD advise. The way the economy is the dealer will more than likely tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread...just to make the sale. Here on the seadoo forum we deal with problems from all over the world. We have 26,500+ members. I think we have seen our fill of problems from people trying to save money and get their seadoo running. You could do a search on the subject and see what pops of. People don't come in here to say "Hello Everybody" they come here to resolve their problems, so we have lots of information on the Super Charger model.

Karl its 2008 and above according to all my research otherwise I would have purchased a 2009. Trust me my brother I did a ton of research its,,, 2008.

yes, 2008 and above have steel washers !!!
as for the 100 hour rebuild, this covers brp's if there is a issuses with a engine failure, since they ate it big time with the lovely ceramic washers
a warranty covers manafactories defects, not wear and tear items
piston rings could be considered a wear item !!!! if there were to fail due to high hours on the ski, but have not seen this as a issuse
all manafactories will say "show me the defect and we will repair"
i have seen ceramic washers with over 200 hours on them and they looked fine, me thinks the owners riding style and oil used are the biggest factors in washer failure. but ceramic was not the best choice !!!!
i have a 2008 rxt x in shop now for pump tunnel cracks " second time"
a few of these had poor glass lay up and under hard loads will de-laminate the glass in the pump tunnel. the boat i have in now started to sink on the first time this happened, 60 year old guy who loves to drag race, no wave jumping, just loves the hole shot. he is out of warranty, but brp just approved good will to get his hull fixed again.
mud

p.s buy the extended warranty !!!
as with any marine product, high performance engine+fancy electronics+water can equal troulbe,

I have a 2008 150 speedster in my yard....it blew out the ceramic washers in 19 hours...Warranty picked up the repair. I have seen about 5, 2008's have the old ceramic washer... Its possible that the engines were built before the new ones were released and resolved.

You think its a good idea to buy the warranty, if I do I'll wait to the last minute. The problem with the warranty, is mods, I want a blow off valve on that sc. I guess I could put one on and take it off if I had too...

Karl:

I never researched Boats just the PWC's, freaking BRP should make that a recall, but I could understand why they won't, major bucks. I have a Ceramic pocket knife, why a ceramic instead of steel, well they say that the ceramic blade will stay sharp ten times longer. The freaking knife is in pieces because I used it to pry on something and the blade shattered, it wasn't a cheap knife it just couldn't handle the little bit of stress I put on the blade. I can imagine that washer coming apart and doing major damage, infact if that happened to me I'd get it fixed and sell it and never buy a seadoo again.

Yes , a extended warranty is a good idea on watercraft / pwc
as for hop ups and mods, talk to your selling dealers service department and get a feel for what they are like.
I wont bust someones chops over warranty if the mod does not affect the ski in a way that caused a failure.
I wont rat out my customer if he has a mod on his/her ski if i know for a fact that it did not cause the failure
the key is " my " customer, if i get someone in that i am unaware of the history or his habits then i will question this.

Bottom line Mud if someone Mods a machine the Dealership gets to decide if they want to fix it. And because I used to be a sales rep for a manufacturer that had dealerships that I dealt with I know for a fact that dealers don't get paid thier shop rate for a warranty repair. Because of that they feel like they are being bent over and they do not want to fix anything under warranty if they don't have too. So the SuperCharger is a wear item not covered under the extended warranty, so is the hull, no extented warranty for me Thanks.:banghead:

:agree:
yes you are correct, i run a service department and know all about warranty times, i deal with all jap brands, brp, triumph, polaris ect
and yes warranty flat rate times are a joke!!
i've done this for 20 years, i deal with the manafactories ever day, sigh!
i deal with customers that i have known for these 20 years
when you spend money with my dealership on a new unit, i will bend over backwards to help you out when there is a issuse that is questionable!
but what i was getting at is a good relationship between cust and dealer
if he puts on a blow off valve on his ski, and it comes in for a no start issuse that turns out to be, say a bad ecm, no problem! i will get it covered
i WONT say ,oh no you modded this ski and your warranty is void
since the two isssues are not related
but this is me, cant vouch for other places, but seems common sense to me
but if you put on say a super muffler 2000, and the boat sinks due to you not securing a hose clamp, well now we have a problem, i will ask my cust to be straight with me, dont lie, tell me the truth and then let me see what i can do. there might be some cost incured to you but i will go out on a limb for ya
but again, talk to the service manager, NOT the salesman, introduce yourself if you are new, and tell them what you are looking to doo
get that warm fuzzy feeling, if not ,leave it stock till the warranty runs out

Mud, I hear you. I can tell your a good guy, If you sold boats around here I'd buy from you. But my brother your the exception. I've fired Dealerships that would not service what they sold under warranty and I've had dealerships fire me because we wouldn't be reasonable enough to pay more than the shop rate and there is always that exception.
As far as me being the customer at dealerships I haven't had any luck and now I go where ever for the better deal, no loyalty, and if a dealership bends me over its the last time I give them that opportunity and then I tell the world.
