new impeller tool wont fit

so i just got a new impeller tool from sbt but it wont fit all the way into the impeller.
it barelly fits in there and it seems like it has to be forced in, not cool. i was expecting to fit nicelly like the shaft.
it says 18mm but i'm thinking i got the wrong tool....its a 1999 seadoo XPL 951. ideas?

compare it to the size of the shaft and see if it's the same?

I got one on ebay, works fine for me...

Did you remove the rubber seal from the end of the impeller?

Its the right one they are all the same. Your teeth in the prop are all goobered up from misalignment.

the impeller splines look fine as a matter of fact i had to take the pump to a local shop and their tool slides right into the impeller.

the overall o.d seems to be about the same for both the tool and the shaft, 19.5mm, but the tool is designed different than the shaft. if it was just .5-1mm smaller it would fit!

another thing is the package says 18mm.

bad batch maybe? i would stay away from buying this tool from sbt any time soon!!

I do like OSD, but that's $4.00 more than the ebay one.

I like OSDs "real world" shipping prices. most places lure you in with low part prices, then charge $15.00 to ship a WASHER.
I've bought tons of stuff from them.

OSD's name change I think is funny... why would sea-doo care? they sell sea-doo PARTS. if anything they should thank them for selling their stuff!

I agree. I recently ordered parts from an ebay site thinking I was getting the cheapest price but some sites do screw you on combined shipping cost when ordering multible items. Like you said, they lure you in. When I compared the combined cost @OSD i think they are more than reasonable. I only wish they sold more tools.

tool feedback

so after almost $20 and 3 weeks latter i got an impeller tool that fits. idiots tryed to tell me that their QA methods were more precise than fitting it in to the actual impeller. well, they are so pressice that it wont fit my impeller :banghead:

sad thing is i allready bouth a throttle cable for my 99 xp in the same order and having second thoughts about it now. should i order an original throttle cable? i'm never going to buy anything from sbt againg.
