NEED HELP!! 1997 seadoo sportster

my sportster has been working great and then the other day it shut down on me in the water. it was running low on fuel and pretty sure thats the reason it shut down but i flipped it over to reserve and it wouldent start... put a new tank of fuel in it and still wont start.. its getting fuel to the fuel filter but from there to the carbs im not sure, also seems to have spark but i tried dumping a couple of shots of gas into the carb and didnt seem to do anything. i did put new plugs in it too. also i dont use the oil injection system i just mix gas and oil right into tank.

How did you convert to pre mix??

Did you remove the oil tank?

I'd have to say, impossible. It be a matter of minutes that the brass gear would get so hot, it'll strip, causing the rotory valve to lay dormant, under the manifold.

Pull the carbs and intake manifold to verify rv movement.

what gear is it that you are talking about? i ran it for a week and a half with the gas mixed after i bought it and it worked great up untill the point where i ran it low on gas.

Your engine has a rotary valve to control the flow of air/fuel from the carbs. That valve spins via a set of gears attached to the center of the crank shaft. Those gears have to be lubed. They normally get lube from the oil tank. If the tank is missing, those gears won't live very long without oil.

But, like Seadooya said... pull the carbs, and see if the valve is spinning.
