1997 Seadoo Sportster single rotex engine. At my wits end so any help will be greatly appreciated. Mechanic fixed oil leak and returned it to me but now it hesitates / sputters / bogs down upon take off. Once on plane it runs great. Hopefully the link works so you can see and hear video. Thanks in advance.

How did the mechanic "fix" the oil leak?

Most hesitationa nd surging issues are carb issues. Follow this exactly.... The Seadoo Carb Rebuild Thread
Intake manifold was leaking, he plained the intake manifold flat. It was warped so the o ring wouldnt push flush against the aluminum, once plained, leak stopped. He thinks the carbs need synchronized. Thx for the rebuild information, I will send to him. So you think that is the issue based on the video?

Well, if your intake was leaking you would have had an air leak and the engine would have run away (increased rpm to full throttle with no throttle input out of the water) or seized the engine. Honestly in 30+ years of working on these I have never once heard of an intake being warped or "planed". THe only way he could have known it was leaking would have been to pressure test the engine which involves pulling the carbs, exhaust and blocking them off and putting 8psi into the engine pulse fitting.
The carbs being a little out of sync would not cause your symptoms.

Thx for your input, very much appreciated. So to confirm, after watching the video, you don’t think the sputtering and time to get on plain is due to carbs or do you think they need rebuilt? Boat is a real survivor and is actually in great shape.
