Nice work, it cleaned up real nice, no matter what racer says . I think one of the most satisfying stages of these projects is getting that hull clean.

Clean Yes, Germ No

DA l, turning the seat 90 degrees is exactly what I did. I didn't really want to remove the shock :) I'm honestly not sure if the fuel gauge works. Ill have to check it out, but ill probably wait to see how it runs before repairing it if it needs fixed, it only takes two minutes to get back into the hole

Oh man its always the time to check and fix it when you are in there...lol Just need a ohm meter.

Its prob bad too!

Yeah, put the key on, the fuel gauge doesnt come off of zero. Im assuming that it doesnt work then. Got some good good news tho today. Charged up the battery, hooked up the compression tester. 148 mag and 150 pto! Woohoooooo she should be a runner for sure

Also, so I am real nervous about cutting these rave valves. Anyone on here ever cut them before or I would even be willing to pay someone here on the forum to cut them for me if I could ship them to ya...

Yup its bad then.

On the raves just put a marker line on the edge of the rave and use a drum sander of some sort. Take the edge off uniformly and set it in the cyl with some grease on the front and turn the motor over by hand. If it transfers to the rings it hasnt been cut enough.

Welp, got my new head in from Spim yesterday! Thanks again Tim. Should get that installed as soon as i work on the rave slots a little and trim the rave valve, cant wait to get that old JB Welded piece of s*** off of my clean ski! Lol. Will have to order some stuff as well, can someone tell me why carb gaskets are $10.00 a piece at the dealer and $1.00 a piece at SBT. That is RIDICULOUS! My dealer says they price match, so I may go that route. It is crazy, all it is is a piece of cut out paper. And the fact they sell rave o-rings are like $5 a piece also!!!

no problem, glad to help out, as soon as I saw that old head I knew something had to be done !

re: dealer prices, I can't answer that lol, I buy very very little from the dealer.

primer kits (cheaper than anywhere)
the occasional steering cable.
I've bought a couple of storage bins too, they were like $9.99

past that me and the dealer don't get along :(

cant wait to see the final product! that thing has been ressurected from the past life! anyways from what i could see from the first pics taken!!!

Well, havent got much new updates. Gunna sell the trailer this week, so I had to make a stand. First one ive made, turned out okay I think

Nice stand, I too made turbostangs stand--it's PIMP! Not shabby for a $45 investment. My HX loves it stand. I gave it some of our old frizze carpet for the bunks.

turbostang????

carpet will be tomorrow or wednesday. i was exhausted after building this, took about 3 hours but lots of getting up, down, measuring, drilling pilot holes, screwing. phew makes me tired thinking of it, even laying here on the couch watching the KU/ KSTATE game...

NICE! The most expensive part of my stands was the damn wheels. Believe I spent $45 on wheels alone. All together I spent $120 per stand.......IIRC.

oh wow! i spent $25 at harbor freight on the wheels. another 35 at lowes for 8 2"x4"s and some wood screws and bolts for the wheels. not too bad

This cart was free, i think my future brother in law said this cost $50 to make he just bought steel tube and welded it up. I think he had some 2x4s laying around and i think he had scrap carpet. I need like 5 more. It is awesome though.

if only i could weld...:nopity:

Yeahhhhh I'm a pretty terrible welder as well. I bought a welder years ago, and the few times I used it created booger welds that looked like ass. They were strong as fook though. lol Not sure I'd trust them to hold up a 500lb + machine.

Try this in the spring
Keep an eye out in the late spring at your local lowes, home depot or other flower selling big box store for racks with these bases. Spring flowers get delivered on these "racks" with shelves and every store always ends up with a few that dont get picked back up in the spring when the season is over and the stores dont know what to do with them. They dont like them hanging around outside, talk to the manager, most of the time they are glad to get rid of them.
$6 for 2x4 and your done.

Sorry, twinturbostang stands as seen on green_hulk.

REMOVE the _ from green_hulk since we can't cross post, he has all the dimmies in a later post. Yeah I paid like $25 for the castors at my local Harbor, and got the 2X4's at HD for less than $20. Screws, heck, I'm like HD in my shop. I have drywall screws that range from 1-1/4" to 3" and every length in between all in 3# boxes. I could get all the steel for free from my father in law, I have no problem welding. Well, yes I do and that is do I want to stick weld it, MIG weld it or TIG weld it--too many choices :D With the wood, I can break it down if I wanted, I don't have to paint it. I love to work with metal but it took me 10 minutes to cut all the wood to the correct length with my chop saw and stand with stops. I should have made it shorter (I followed his dimensions) because I need to lift the ski off the trailer to get it on the stand, but to work on it's at the perfect height for me, so I'll deal with the lift. I used to swivel castors and two fixed, I have another steel stand (currently supporting a Chevy truck cab) that has 4 pneumatic swivel castors and it's a PITA to move cause it always want to go it's own way. Now I gotta hit Harbor again, I need another stand I think for indoor winter storage.

EDIT: I had the 1/4" X 1-1/2" long lags for the castors, then I run them in with my impact gun (that's how we build crates for machines). I think start to finish about an hour.

REMOVE THE _ between Green and Hulk, all the dimensions are right there a few post in.

Dang, I didn't even think about using the bottom for storage, that woulda been awesome!

It comes in handy, especially if you have a few ski projects on the go at the same time, easier to keep parts together with the ski it actually belongs tool.

Racer we have the exact same design on the stand, I got my design from green hulk as well. Except I added the extra boards on the bottom to space the casters out a little further for added stability
