It popped that 5amp fuse in the MPEM and would pop it every time after that

Seadoodoc, I'm reminded of a Santana song. :) MPEM is too expensive and hard to enter for me to risk. Maybe the day the CDI bites the dust I'll be peeling back the potting looking to replace the capacitors but till that day I'm not connecting anything more than 13.8V CLEAN DC to it.

Meanwhile, I'm considering installing a damping diode across the starter solenoid, there's just no telling where or by whom this thing was made but failure rates are scary high compared to other engine controllers, no surge protection was the cheap out for whomever the lowest contract bidder was that built them, I guess..

The 5A fuse blowing thing is b/c the surge protect diode inside shorts out but there are other failures too, like the starter solenoid driver and the unexplained CDI failures.

It might be a different story if I had an electrical schematic and the ability to replace internal components or could pick up a replacement MPEM for $50.

Till that day, I'll handle my MPEM with anti-static gloves. :)

Lol.. Snap On charger fail #2. Plug in backwards on Mercedes Benz 10kw stereo and guess who wins. . So broken Blue Point battery charger now runs 17.2 volts. Has now charged, and started 50 cars- Seadoos. You cant kill MPEM by anything other than attrition. Anyone ever kill their car computer from a jumpstart?

So just wondering why have so many MPEMS failed due to jumping from running car? And why would Seadoo post this

I'm confident the correct way to engineer a chick magnet out of a Civic doesn't involve connecting the battery charger backward in an attempt to create some kind of mysterious field but good luck with your MPEM, may it fare far better than your Blue Point chargers have. :)

same warning on car we jump started today. Also said unsafe pissing out window over 95 khm
