You don't have the year of your boat listed. If it's a 97 Speedster, it'll be much different than the newer one. So, please correct your avatar to reflect the year model. This way, it'll show up in every thead or post you make.
Because I've bought 2 impellers that didn't really have a significant change or increase in speed, surely not for the cost I put into them, I'd recommend you ask one of the pro's. You can check out the Solas or Skat-Trak's at RIVA or you can compare theirs to the ones over at the Impros. No matter what you see, don't settle. The market is huge so, I'm sure you'll find some good prices if you just shop around.....
Everyone might have an opinion on which will deliver high end speed or low end torque but in the progressive pitch impellers, I think I'd leave it to one of the pros. Mike at the Impros will know exactly what to recommend after giving him your request.
is there an impeller that adds a little speed & torque, or is that a dumb concept.. probably doing new wear rings so jw, might as well, got a small budget for performance if it's advised

No, that is not a dumb concept. It's actually what most of us do to get a little bit more. You can order an impeller for higher top end, which takes away from the bottom. Those that go that route, don't normally pull tubes or skis (wakeboard). Those who choose a cut on the low end, get excellent hole shot and low end torque to get someone out of the hole on a ski/wake.
Before you ask anyone for advice on this subject, I'd go to a place like "Impros" and ask the experts. Everyone can offer an opinion, but I found out the hard way, after a $200 buck purchase didn't really do much for me.
So, check their site out. IF nothing else, you'll gain some good info.
