Wanted to upgrade the trailer a bit so I installed LED Tail Lights.

Besides just liking how they look, I did it as they are MUCH more visible and fully submersible which eliminates the oops I forgot to unplug the lights...

First I removed the original lights which had those stupid crimp style wire connectors.

Then I cut into the wire a bit to get to nice new fresh wire, slid heat-shrink tubing onto the wire then twisted them together.

Then soldered the wires,

Heated the heat-shrink tube,

Here are the the light with JUST the running lights illuminated, (in full daylight)

Looks really good. I just picked up a set from harbor freight yesterday. Got tired of popping bulbs in the water lol.

Joe,

Where did you get the lights? They really look good, are they from my favorite store?

No,, but they do have them and they were close in price. I got them from Overtons as I had a gift card. Exact same lights at your favorite store though..

I've bought two sets from harbor freight. So good! I always unplug them though. I guess its a habit.

I always unplugged prior to installing the LED lights. But,,,, they are sealed by design so I just leave them plugged in. My rear marker lights are mini bulbs and seem to do fine with being submerged. However, like the tail lights I am sure they use those stupid flip crimp fittings. So I will buy a LED marker light strip and replace them.

ordered my set today !!.. i wont put em on until i blow the old ones bulbs.. but always nice to have nothing to worry about lol ..

What about the marker lights, did you replace those with LED's?

Lou

Not yet, will do so shortly. Will solder and heat shrink them as well. My OEM side markers and fender markers were already LED's.

I'm going to install one of these two options on the rear of my trailer. This first one pivots. But I think my trailer is straight in the center as it is a double wide.

You can buy all of it on ebay really cheap. i used a placed called R & P carriages. They are s mall family place specializing in trailer stuff. I think they are in Indiana and sell on ebay also. The bottom strip you posted Joe is what I put in the middle of the trailer, and then replaced all the markers lights and tail lights. I like to use the heat shrink butt connectors with solder in them. You heat em up and the solder melts at the same time the heat shrink is melting. Then i put a bigger heat shrink around the whole connection. You can find those cheap on ebay also. I did my whole trailer on the 98 for less than 100 bucks.
