How can I get my '96 SeaDoo Speedster worked on?

I'm having a devil of a time getting anyone to work on my '96 Speedster in southern Indiana (I'd like my carbs rebuilt and, no, don't have time to do it myself). All the dealers I contact say they won't work on anything older than 2002! Seems weird, but that's what they say. Is there some kind of old SeaDoo "underground" that will work on my boat?

If you just need the carbs. rebuilt send them to Dr Honda, no body will do a better job and he will rebuild them at a good price. PM him on this forum.

BTW, what does the rest of the fuel delivery system look like? If you still have the grey temp fuel lines the need to be replaced with black automotive type hose, and the rest of the fuel system will need to be cleaned.

It going to sound like a broken record in here.
[MENTION=16022]Dr Honda[/MENTION] is the man to service the carbs, hands down.

And again, do you have Grey Tempo Fuel lines?
 
Thanks again to everyone, but I think the larger question, how to get an "old" SeaDoo service, hasn't been discussed. Has anyone else had this problem? I did simply when I tried to get a second DESS key! I finally went w/ CanDooPro. Excellent product, BTW.

Many dealers seem to avoid older skis. Makes no sense to me.

Train your mechanics and people will use them.

Part of the issue is many simply don't want to learn true mechanics of machines they can't plug into or that require actually taking the ski to the lake.

Your best bet is likely being a member here as we can tell you the what's wrong and how to fix it in most cases.

The advantage to that is,,,,, you will spend less money and know the job was done with care.
 
many dealers don`t want to get stuck with a boat that keeps coming back to the shop, bc at this age of the boat is when the gremlins keep coming out, and it is less liability if they just turn you away. The MPEM electronics are sensitive and any of their staff could fry one easily if they are not familiar with it. I`ve read where even Someone hooked up a battery incorrectly and woooops, fried the MPEM...

the older seadoo`s aren`t as plug n play as the new techy machines. Code reading and diagnostics read on the laptop are the new way, just like the automotive industry. there are less hands on mechanics and more parts changers...

reason like this is why I would want to open a shop and cater to the older 2 stroke machines, but I just don`t think the demand is there to cover all the over head and keep the gov`t happy.

Candoo from what I hear is a great product. If I keep our boat any longer it would makes sense to just have one as well...
Not to many seadoo/BRP dealers in our area...
