hi again well had a fun summer until i broke dowm again did some reading
narrowed it down to the starter any ideas where to get a less expensive starter asked the local shop and wanted 370.00 for a starter and 170.00 for a clutch

with the clutch im confused do i need one? or im just trying to find out am I getting hosed into buying a clutch? and how do I know if the clutch is broken? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :hurray:

hi well i gotta new starter put in and would yah know it didnt work , the first try it turned the engine over a second try slight hesitation and turned over a little and third try the red wire going into the starter stated to smoke and is now no good sent the part back only problem is to wait again for the warranty on the starter.

any ideas as to why the starter had smoke on the red wire not the ground wire. is there anything else i should be checking

thanks.

Are you sure you have the power (red) and the ground or earth (black) cables on the right studs?

I assume you do since it cranked a little before frying.

If you need a new starter, try dbelectrical.com

yes the leads aere all good battery is charged and i bought another starter put it in today and first try it turned over a bit and a second try there seems to be a delay and barely cranks over and the third try nothing now there is a long steady beep when i put the lanyard on i tried jumping the selonoid and there is power to the starter so could it be the selonoid noe im stumped. so all hook ups good just trying to figure out why the long steady beep not like the 2 beeps .......im stumped........:confused:

you say the battery is charged. that doesnt really mean anything. has it been load tested? It really sounds like a bad battery.

hi
i changed the ground wires and took out the plugs and found some water i was able to get rid of the long beep back to the 2 beeps. i cranked over and strong but what i noticed was alot of water came out of the spark plugs holes so i stopped cranking the engine i what can i do now about the water do i keep cranking to get the water out ..what r my options thanks in advance.

YES, keep cranking to remove the water.
Don't crank for more than about 5 seconds at a time, then stop for 20-30 seconds before cranking again. This lets the starter cool off.

put a little gas/oil mix into the plug holes when all water is out then try starting engine. Some people use WD40 instead. Others use starting fluid, but that doesn't have any oil to lube the cylinders.

Once started run the heck out of for about 10-15 minutes to "boil" out any water that might be left.

Yes you need to get that water out ASAP. You talk like it hasnt ran in a while so i am afraid the damage is already done. Probably wont start because its locked up. I would take the plugs out, get the water out and turn it over by hand. Put some oil down in the spark plugs holes and let it sit a day after you get the water out, then try to turn it over.

hi well i did put mixed gas in the plugs turned the engine over to get all water out and put in new plugs ,,, went to start the engine and to my surprise it started,,, then i hooked up to truck and went to the lake and ran it about half hour and turned it off and tried again and started again so everything ok for now until the next problem.....lol great forum thanks again for the quick replies

Hello:

Check E bay, I got one out of South Carolina for 85.00 American. As for the clutch, Is it grinding or making noise when you engage the starter? I have to know this for a proper diagnoses...

Madd, Glad you got it running.
If you ever get water in the engine again, REMEMBER to get it out ASAP before any type of rust sets in.

Have Fun.....
