Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but not to mechanical work on anything with wheels. As far as PWC this is my first Seadoo and its already giving me troubles. Took the ski out yesterday and it ran perfectly, went to start it up today and its a no go. Here is the timeline of what took place.
Placed DESS key on ski and the ski made 4 beeps instead of the normal 2 but still started? While it was running I removed the DESS key and it still kept running. I hit the stop switch and it turned off. I then was able to restart the ski without the DESS key insterted in the ski which is not good. Now the ski will not start and it continually gives me the 4 beep salute with or without the key inserted. I have pulled the fuses and replaced them with the same outcome. To get the thing to shut up I left the fuses out. On the gauge panel it says "check engine - P 1656" which is the trouble code for a short. My best guess it the actual DESS key plug on the ski (not the lanyard key) is faulty. I traced all of the wires and did not find any bad connections, water or corrosion.
Any suggestions would be a big help. If anyone has any questions regarding anything in the Corvette world I'm your man.
